Chai. This is what the average Nigerian graduate have been reduce to, always settling for less. sad

It's the situation of the country. Things have gotten really badddd. Many people are rushing to grab the few jobs available. But believe me, there are jobs that pay much better that doesn't require connection but a positive mindset.

I earned this amount before NYSC. But things were actually better a few years back.

Op will be fine. He can decide to take the job. But what usually happens is that such companies will pay peanuts but will drown the staff in so much work that going for other opportunities will be impossible. After years of blackmailing him with "there are no jobs out there" by his boss, he will find himself frustrated and sometimes diminished.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I just finished serving last month and I got a job offer of 40k. I am a B.Sc holder, graduated with second class upper. I need your candid advice whether I should accept or decline the job offer.

After years of blackmailing you with "there are no jobs out there" by your boss, you will find yourself frustrated and sometimes diminished.

Don't think the people that get the 200k jobs have 5 heads or their uncles are all influential. The day you buy that lie from pessimistic Nigerians, you are gone. You will just be swimming in highest, 50k jobs and will feel you are "lucky".

Look out for job posts and apply in the big companies. Visit the websites of the companies you would like to work in to check out their vacancies. Network with people and make yourself visible.

That's my own two cents.

250 daily from 40k is a struggle unless the job has a promising future. I will advice you learn a craft that will add more value to you with that your degree will be more appreciated.

Please accept and start fdoing some thing as it is better than being jobless. The experience you get there will pave way for a bigger job. I mad a similar mistake by rejecting an offer of 40,000 after my graduation thinking the company wanted to tight me down but I regretted and took an offer of 20000 with a bakery after 7 months of joblessness.

Most of the advisers here concentrated on advising the guy to take the job but start looking for a better one.

However non remember to ask him what value he is going to add to the employer's business in the next 6 months yo one year after taken the job.

No one advised him to ensure he did all that is possible to ensure he does not become a liability to the firm.

Nobody reminded him that the said employer is taken a great risk on him and will have to expend resources to train and get him adapted.

You seems to have forgotten that if he gives his best to ensure the business grows the employer will definitely not want to lose him and would be ready to increase his salary.

From the look of things I want to believe that the said prospective employer is a Micro business or at best a small business going by the CBN definition and classification of MSMEs.

Yeah, that's one of the things I am considering cos the resumption time is 8am and you close 5pm. The work day is from Monday to Friday n the transport fare per day is #250.
Accept the offer; your monthly transport fares will be 5k based on 250 naira daily, manage the remaining 35k while u are gaining experience which in turn will enrich your CV.
I start from 20k some years back.
NB am doing very well, married with 2kids.

The information is too scanty.
Is the job in your field of specialisation?
Is it an internship programme that will enable you to gain valuable experience?
What is the average pay for a job in another company with a similar description?
Is there potential for adding value to your cv by taking this job? Or meeting clients/customers that can be useful to your dreams in future?
Any room for growth? How rapid will the growth be?
Where are you based and what is your current financial condition like?
Etc. Etc.

Accept it. You're going to spend #6k on transportation, and that gives you #34k per month, #408k per annum. Manage it for now
