Akeredolu's scorecard 'll determine his re-election in Ondo says Group

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Aketi Youth/Women Mobiization Group (AYWMG) has said it is very optimistic that the scorecard of the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi, SAN, will be the yardstick to determine his re-election in the 2020 Governorship poll in the state.

The group State Coordinator, Hon. Babajide Akinwolere Thomas, who stated this while chatting with reporters in Akure, the state capital revealed that the group, which is one of the political groups mobilising for Akeredolu second term is elated that the governor is making its work easier through his achievements in term of project execution.

Hon. Akin-Thomas, who was the House of Representatives candidate, under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo West/East federal constituency during the 2019 General elections, before joining APC, said he can boldly say that Akeredolu has performed credibility well than his predecessor.

Besides, he noted that the major opposition party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now having a sleepless night because Akeredolu has blocked all the loopholes to give room for reasonable criticism of this current government.

AYWMG coordinator stressed that the PDP has not forgotten how they left the state and is also aware that Akeredolu, rather than making political noise on the challenges created by the party, has quietly embarked on clearing the mess.

He noted that the visible achievements of Akeredolu was what prompted the State Chairman of PDP, Engr. Clement Faboyede to openly eulogised the current government few days to the 2019 State Assembly election.

He added that he is not suprise that the PDP had recently embarked on a campaign of calumny against Akeredolu's administration, saying the party was only doing that just to show its existence as one of the political platforms in the state.

"Look my dear brothers, we must be sincere with ourselves about what is going on in our sunshine states. When Akeredolu was sworn-in, I became so worried, not that I was doubting his competence but because the state has been embroiled with series of challenges that the poor masses will be eager for this administration to resolve.

"My love for him grows stronger, when he walk his talk on the payment of arrears that he inherited from his predecessor.

"He met seven months unpaid salaries and he has judiciously used the few funds in his disposal to clear six months. Despite clearing this arrears, Akeredolu has not derailed from prompt payment of workers salaries.

"This is a civil servants state. When you deny workers their salaries, already you have grounded the economy of the state. The workers are happy with him because the governor has made their welfarism one of his priorities.

"Akeredolu didn't stop there. Within one year in office, Akeredolu has completed the construction of 45kilomters of roads across the state.

"Today, the people living in Gaga, Abusoro, State High Court, Iwalewa, and Alagbaka SIB roads are now thanking him for reducing their agonies.

"Under Akeredolu's government, we will soon have our first flyover in the state sited in Ore. Go to Ese-Odo, Ikare, Owo, Ifedore, Idanre, you will see Akeredolu midas touch.

"Construction of 29 km of Oke-Agbe-Irun-Afin-Ese-Ogbagi Akoko road has commenced. Contractors are currently working on the 8km Akure-Oda dual carriageway road. The Governor, recently re-awarded the 28.5km Aboto/Atijere road in Ilaje for a contract sum of N8billion.

"Very soon, the government will complete the ongoing dualization of hospital road. These are the few of Akeredolu's achievements.

"On industrialisation, I am glad to say this that the last time we witnessed industrial revolution in the state was during regime of the first civilian governor of the state, late Chief Adekunle Ajasin.

"Akeredolu has brought back the old memories. Go to Ore, the state now have five functional industries. We now have textile, MDF plant, HDF plant, cassava-ethanol plant , paper mill and many more industries in Ondo State.

"In the health sector, many of us were of the opinion that Akeredolu would merge the Ondo State University of Medical Science with AAUA due to paucity of fund but Akeredolu has used his knowledge to salvage the issue.

"Today, the state has a functional teaching hospital. The Teaching hospitals both in Ondo and Akure are currently experiencing rapid transformation in human capacity and infrastructural development".

"People at the grassroots have not been shutout from this ongoing revolutions. Over 2000 boreholes have been repaired and reconstructed. Over 800 public schools have been renovated and reconstructed. Our farmers are now enjoying good road networks through Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP), if you think I have lied, go to Malege in Owo".

Hon. Akin-Thomas, however reaffirmed the commitment of the group to Akeredolu re-election's project, insisting that Akeredolu has made himself sellable to the electorates and the group will continue to propagate the achievements of his government.
