there is a mid 90s Corolla here in my village in Sweden which seems to have had a rough life, yet its odometer stood at 435.000 km last time I talked to the owner;


Over the past 30 years, the German TUV Report more or less consistently listed the Corolla as a car with remarkably low, mechanical or electrical failure rates at over 11 years of age.

Having said that, I also had a colleague in England whose Corolla died at 300.000 km. I think he could have fixed it, but probably simply figured the repair was more expensive than the car was worth, which is of course a killer argument for many.

I would say, expect 300.000 km minimum if serviced well and driven properly, more if you are willing to replace things every now and then

There can be no fixed formula in determining this; it would largely depend on the quality of maintenance and the state of the surfaces it was driven on.

For instance, a car that racked up 10,000KM on highly standard roads would still be in a better condition compared to a car that has registered 3,000KM on very bad roads.

If 300,000km (186,411miles) is minimum, then that is very poor when 80% of cars imported to Nigeria come with 200k+miles.

My neighbor got a beautiful (I admit) clean low mileage 2008 Corolla and will not shut up on how he will never use Honda because of the transmission and leg issues.

Unfortunately, as clean as his car is, he is spending far more than me to maintain 2003 Accord.

At the moment he is looking for money to change the transmission because the transmission slips when going to 4. I have no transmission issues with my troublesome 2003 accord in 5years. This is the 3rd 2008 Corolla I know that are having such problem. This is apart from the hub bearings followed by the shocks, then finally AC that must be changed to manual compressor.

The 2003-2007 Toyota corolla stops counting when its odometer clocks 299,999.00. I've seen that happen on about 3-4 different units. The engine would continue running fine but it won't rack up extra digits on the odometer.

Op this is a case of plagarism. That car is standard, one in every fleet of car owners, the mileage and the health of any car, has alot in common with the surface driven upon. Especially in third world countries.

My car mileage is at 750,000km and is still running like tokunbo
