#buhari At 77: NAPS Frowns At Discrimination Against HND Holders by Honbright(m): 2:59pm On Dec 17, 2019
....NAPS demands complete removal of discrimination against HND holders

The leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Student's (NAPS), Ably led by the National President Elect  Activist Sunday A. Asuku a student of Kaduna Polytechnic, from the department of Chemical Engineering  blew hot this morning at the NUJ secretariat Kaduna state chapter.

Following the recent Development by the house of Representatives were the bill to abolish dichotomy was sponsored by Hon. Ali Isa from Gombe state and the Hon. Edward Pwajok from plateau state which passed second reading since April 2017,Hon. Pwajok said, the discrimination against the Hnd holders had no moral justification and that it will make the international community look down on the status of the Educational institutions in the country.

Furthermore Pwajok said there are a lot of segregation at employment level as those with first degree are placed on grade level 8 while those with Hnd are place on grade level 6 or 7, These high rate of discrimination also reflect in salaries as some organizations pay Bscholders #100,000 at entry level while Hnd holders gets #70,000 at entry level.

It was perceived that there is need for review of the Polytechnic act in order to fasttrack the abolishment of the old rugged Dichotomy,  special thanks to President Muhamadu Buhari who finally signed the bill into law.

However, it is so appalling and pathetic that the bill that has been long  signed into law is yet to be implemented, that gives the leadership of NAPS serious worries as the said dichotomy still hunts Hnd holders.

The National Secretariat of NAPS in a statement made available to VAM News today, received the sad news of the exclusion of Hnd Holders from the On-going Promotion Examination which start today (17th Dec. - 20th Dec. 2019) at eagle square Abuja.

The promotion Examination which is meant for all civil Servants on grade level 14 migrating to grade 15 and beyond still discriminate against Nigeria Polytechnic graduates, thereby the ministry of Education is  hiding under the flimsy excuse  that they are yet to get the implementation Circular/Memo from the Head of Service.

We appeals to President Muhamadu Buhari who Clocks 77yrs today to consider and monitor the implementation of the bill that abolish the Dichotomy between Hnd and Bsc as the rate/degree of discrimination will continue to have negative effect on the growth of Nigeria Economy,  Particularly in the era which Mr President have decided to prioritize  made in Nigeria products which lead to the closure of our borders.

We urge Mr President to bring to book every saboteurs and ensure the complete abolishment of Dichotomy. It is also advisable and encouraging to state fresh promotion exercise/Examination that will capture Hnd Holders migrating from level grade 14 to level grade 15 and beyond.

The leadership of NAPS under the leadership of Activist Sunday A. Asuku Heartly Celebrate  President Muhamadu Buhari on the Occasion of his 77th birthday, may your reign pilot the country to her promised land.
