BREAKING: No Bed Space For Returning Students, Says OAU Management by Nobody: 11:12pm On Dec 25, 2019 |
The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife in a press release from the Division of Student Affairs of the varsity has made it known that students currently residing in the halls of residence must on or before 31st December vacate the halls with all their personal belongings. In another paragraph of the press release which has sent shivers down the spine of students, the DSA informed that there would be no bed space for returning students. “In addition, all stalelites should note that there is no bed space for them campus hence, there is no balloting for accommodation for the coming session(2019/2020), only freshers will be given consideration.” However, a barrage of criticisms has assailed this decision of the management to drive students to reside off campus. There have been reports of robberies which led to death and injuries of students. It is no gainsaying that the welfare of students who have come from far and near to study has been periled. On December 24,2018, Premium Times reported the death of an accounting student, Mr Abiodun Babalola, who was killed as a result of injuries from an attack unleashed on Adam and Eve Hostel, an off campus hostel, in which he resided as a student. It’s irredeemably depressing that the management has decided to further increase the number of students who reside off campus and tossed into the piercing claws of insecurity in the coming academic sessions. https://ncboaucom./2019/12/24/breaking-no-bed-space-for-returning-students-says-oau-management/
