Delta Assembly receives 3 Bills for first reading

Delta State House of Assembly has received three new bills for first reading during its Thursday's plenary.

The bills are Delta State Local Content Agency and other matters bill, Delta State Effective Surveillance and Response to Maternal and
Prenatal Deaths and related matters bill, and Delta State Corporate Social Responsibility Monitoring Agency Bill.

The bills are privately sponsored. The first two by the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere and the third by member representing Isoko
South II Constituency, Hon. Ferguson Onwo and 17 other law makers.

The notice of presentation and first reading of the Delta State Local Content Agency and other matters bill was moved by the Majority
Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere and seconded by member representing Ika South, Hon. Festus Okoh. Second reading of the bill is slated for
January 21, 2020.

Also, the notice of presentation and first reading of the Delta State Effective Surveillance and Response to Maternal and Prenatal Deaths and related matters bill, was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Tim Owhefere, and seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Pat Ajudua. Second reading of the bill is slated for January 28, 2020.

The Delta State Corporate Social Responsibility Monitoring Agency Bill was presented by the member representing Isoko South II Constituency, Hon. Ferguson Onwo and seconded by the Majority Leader. Wednesday 22, January 2020 was slated for second reading of the bill.

Meanwhile, a report by the Public Petitions Committee on the alleged refusal to pay outstanding monies owed Venerable John Okotie by the Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba, was deferred till February 20, 2020.

In the same vein, Committee of Whole for the consideration of the Delta State Judiciary Fund Management (Financial Autonomy) Bill, 2019 was deferred till Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

The house adjourned plenary till Tuesday, 21st January, 2020 at 10am.
