Sokoto Governorship Election Judgement: Tambuwal's Day In The Sun by Nobody: 9:15am On Jan 19, 2020
The long wait is almost over. Tomorrow the good people of Sokoto State will heave a sigh of relief. Tomorrow spin doctors of Sokoto APC will be put out of business. The people will regain their peace and the people/development centered administration will fully concentrate on its mission to revamp the education, health and agricultural sectors.

Tomorrow all roads will lead to Government House, Sokoto. The people will troop to Government House in anticipation of the affirmation of the victory of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR (Mutawallen Sokoto). The people have maintained their cool despite the provocative utterances of Sokoto APC officials and their ill-informed supporters in the wake of the Supreme Court's verdict on the Imo governorship election.

The confidence of the people is not without basis. They have come a long way in checkmating forces determined to terminate the progressive administration of their humble, simple and charismatic Governor, Aminu Tambuwal. Putting their faith in the Almighty God, they waged sustained political battles against the anti democratic forces before, during and after the 2019 governorship elections. Despite the people's victory at the polls, the anti Sokoto forces have remained unrelenting.

It is indeed one of the wonders of the world that party officials that should have been cooling their heels in prison for electoral heist had the temerity to approach the Election Petition Tribunal, Appeal Court and Supreme Court claiming to be the victim of electoral infractions.

But they are mistaken. The Sokoto case presents a fundamental dilemma to APC's legal arithmeticians. Governor Tambuwal's defence is water-tight. There are no loopholes to exploit in the Sokoto Governorship Case. No opportunity for legal gymnastics or acrobatics.

In actual fact, it was the APC with the awesome machinery of the Federal Government that sought to rig Governor Tambuwal out of power. When Governor Tambuwal was coasting home to victory, the APC election riggers mobilized their thugs and disrupted elections in many polling units, leading to cancellations and eventual declaration of the election as inconclusive. Despite the intimidating security cordon thrown on Sokoto State during the supplementary election, the good people of Sokoto State stood solidly behind their ever - smiling Governor. He won with a slim margin, effectively checkmating the federal forces and their local proxies.

What they could not get at the polls, they thought they could grab through the courts. The Election Petition Tribunal ruled in Governor Tambuwal's favour. The Tribunal said the APC witnesses, except one are incompetent. It dismissed the petition as lacking in merit. Not satisfied, APC headed to the Appeal Court. The Appeal Court in a unanimous judgement agreed with the Tribunal. But the law and the will of the people matter very little to Sokoto APC. They headed to the Supreme Court, hoping for a miracle. They want the Supreme Court to manufacture evidence and competent witnesses and declare them winner. Their hope lies in the realm of imagination.

On Monday, 20th January, 2020, all eyes will be on the Supreme Court. Governor Tambuwal's lawyers in their powerful submission clearly showed that the appellant's lawyers woefully failed to show that the judgements of the lower courts were perverse (I.e improper, incorrect or contrary to the evidence). There can only be one outcome from Monday's Supreme Court Judgement: the affirmation of Governor Tambuwal's popular victory.
