Nigeria’s Border Closure Not To Punish Neighbours – Buhari by Racoon(m): 5:11pm On Jan 19, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the partial closure of Nigeria’s borders was not meant to punish her neighbours, but to strengthen the country’s security and economy. The president stated this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, made in Abuja on Saturday.

Adesina said the president was speaking at a meeting with a select group of Nigerian Community in the United Kingdom.

According to him, the president explains that the period of closure will be used for stock-taking on threats to the nation’s security and economy.

He noted that Nigerian farmers have been celebrating the closure, which had drastically reduced smuggling of agricultural produce as well as arms and ammunition infiltration.

Buhari adjudged the country’s virtual food security position to be “very good in the last three rainy seasons.

This the president attributed to the federal government’s reduction in the price of fertilisers by 50 per cent and the presidential directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria not to give foreign exchange for food imports.

He said this had resulted to saving the nation billions of naira.

While commending Nigerians in the Diaspora for their huge home remittances – more than 25 billion dollars in 2018 – the president also lauded their individual performances in their various fields of expertise.

The Nigerian leader narrated the achievements of his administration in implementing its three-point campaign agenda by focusing on fixing the economy, providing security and tackling corruption.

The President noted that Nigeria’s “huge, vibrant youth population that have been encouraged to go back to the farms and were living decent and respectable lifestyles.”

On security, he said “it is common sense that you can only run the country if it is secured, and that the country has not done badly in the North East.Buhari described the havoc done by corruption to the image and economy of Nigeria abroad as “terrible”.

According to him, his administration has now focused on retrieving stolen fixed assets and returning the proceeds of the sale to the treasury through the Treasury Single Account (TSA), so that nobody can return them back to the convicts even after his tenure.

The President congratulated the current World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua, who was the cynosure of all eyes during the meeting, for regaining his world championship belt, as well as putting Nigeria “on the world map again like Hogan Bassey.”

On his part, Joshua, who later presented his belts to the President, pledged to “stand up for Nigeria anytime you need me”.The statement said various speakers at the event lauded the President’s commitment to bequeathing a lasting legacy.

A renowned research biochemist, Adebayo Olamideji, went down memory lane to recall President Buhari’s nationalistic dispositions by his decision to save 1,250 Nigerian students from Oyo State studying abroad from indebtedness and shame when he was military Head of State by agreeing to pay over 6.2 million dollars.

While comparing him to former British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, Oladimeji said the President had started “turning Nigeria around for good”.He, therefore, urged him not to allow detractors to “grind him down.”

The meeting with the Nigerian Community was coordinated by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who described President Buhari as “diaspora-friendly”.

Buhari commended her for efforts in coordinating the affairs of diaspora Nigerians in different parts of the world.

False!- TheCable understands that at least three million Nigerians have slipped into extreme poverty between November 2018 and February 2019.

According to the World Poverty Clock, created by Vienna-based World Data Lab, 91.16 million Nigerians were living below a dollar a day as of February 13, 2019.

False!- Given the appointment of grossly corrupt persons into govt(Abdulrasheed Maina, Godswill Akpabio, Bashir Magashi) and complicit in absolving those indicted along the way gives this regime away as one that have long legalized corruption. Most agencies of govt are bypassing the TSA hence corruption continues.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the partial closure of Nigeria’s borders was not meant to punish her neighbours, but to strengthen the country’s security and economy.
Only criminals, corrupt souls, troublemakers think otherwise.

They are never after anything good, they are never after anything that will move the nation and our economy forward.
NEVER!
All they want is bad news everywhere.
And that bad news will always be at their doorsteps permanently.
And the enemies of Nigeria cannot escape it.

No be curse.
Na FACT.

Now, you can start quoting if you hate Nigeria and if you are always negative......3.....2.......1 Go........

This border closure is only thing i can say this buhari government got right. With the level of insecurity in nigeria we shouldn't be opening borders for any fvcking body, only enemies of nigeria would complain about it. Not surprised these our banku-eating noisy neighbors are the ones complaining the most even more than benin and togo.

This is the reason Nigeria will never develop, putting the cart before the horse

During the industrial revolution, the western countries didn’t build stadiums or golf courses, they were building industries, roads, dams, hospitals not even airports because everything has stages, you can’t fly without jumping, golf courses are for developed countries, any update bout the national stadium which Obasanjo wasted taxpayers money to build?, I heard the stadium is now being used for crusade and political rallies, I remember when we begged him, to extend the Ibadan dual expressway to Benin but BABA won’t hear, he will rather waste our money than improve our transport system which will in turn benefit farmers and traders who transport their goods, politicians will be sending people on pilgrimage to developed countries, buying cars, building airports, giving out millions of Naira to individuals from the state pockets and gullible people will still support them, how on earth will sane people support tradermoney, how has the initiative help the Nigeria economy, those women have collected their 10,000 share, and I’m sure it would have finished, instead of giving out 10,000 to 100,000 individuals, why not start an industry with that fund

Welfarism doesn’t develop a nation likewise unproductive spending

Since the majority of Nigerians are poor, then who wants to use the golf courses and stadiums, we should get our priorities right and spend money on productive projects not building churches and mosques

Some people ask; where are the achievements?
Well, if they are of such mindset, unfortunately they can't be helped.
We don't have the authority to mix spittle with clay, put on their eyes, and direct them to go to Siloam pool, wash, and come back seeing.
Once anybody decides to be willfully blind, no matter what you push in front of his eyes, he wouldn't see.
If he decides to be willfully deaf, even if there are thunder peals by his ears, he won't hear
.
The blind claim not to know.
Good luck to them.
Those who know, really know.
And they are the millions who will stand by the President any day, any time....like Yours Truly.
Strides in security, agriculture, anti-corruption, infrastructure, and many others are evident.
When they drive on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Aba Port Harcourt Expressway, and hear that early works on the Second Niger Bridge have reached about 45% completion,
and still refuse to believe, what then can anybody still do?
But thankfully, those who believe far out number the inveterate, wailing, blind cynics.

SAY NO MORE............

Here you have it!
