The doctors at their meeting on Monday decided on the strike in order to press the need for the freedom of the woman on the state and the Federal Government.

The decision was contained in a letter addressed to the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and signed by the chairman, Dr Oluwatoyin Adetan, and the secretary, Dr I. J. Adebose.

According to the NMA, two previous letters had been written to the office of the state governor on the matter without any response.

The letter read: "The decision of the doctors at the emergency general meeting was to embark on the withdrawal of service on Tuesday and Wednesday 7th and 8th December, 2010 and to resume 8.00 a.m. on Thursday with a possible review of the action conditional to the response of the government.

"We sincerely hope that a proactive step will be taken immediately to address this issue of urgent importance to prevent recurrence to the general populace and indeed doctors whose responsibility it is to care for the lives of the populace."

It will be recalled that Ogunleye, who is the wife of a Saudi Arabia-based doctor, Dr Idowu Ogunleye, was penultimate Sunday kidnapped by unknown men.

She was said to have been abducted at about 7.00 p.m. by the people who invaded her residence on Ijoka road, Akure.

How is this funny?

We are talking about the wife of a Yoruba man here, not some futureless south southerner/aboki.

Would you be laughing, if your wife were abducted by someone like 'fleece the booty warrior.'
