GOVERNOR DICKSON EXITING THE STAGE IN DISGRACE AND SHAME

Henry Seriake Dickson became Governor of Bayelsa State in 2011. When he was imposed as Governor of Bayelsa State, he played cool at first, but later became a tyrant.

Throughout his 8 years as Governor, he ruled the as his family business. For the first time, he introduced a tax policy of cutting worker salary by 30%.

He sacked all the workers employed by his predecessor, Timipre Sylva. He then appointed his family members of his girl friends to the most lucrative offices and they like Dickson did not help others but siphoned money meant to develop the state with impunity.

He sacked about 175 workers in Niger Delta University alone. He then descended on the workers by reducing their grade levels and steps to the bearers minimum.

Not done, he also reduced the pensioners pay by 2/3, paying . He also did not pay any gratuities to pensioners for the past 8 years, thereby making him the hater of the aged, the senior citizens in our state.

He is the first man that sent hired thugs to beat up our aged parents for conducting a peaceful protest as a result of the punishment he meted to the pensioners, causing them to shade tears and pains. This man is worse than any of the top most evil men that ever existed.

This man also couldn’t proviso even a drop of potable water for his subjects for 8 years, but uses our public funds to buy properties all over the world, marrying uncountable wives with numerous children here and there. In fact he has destroyed Bayelsa state by making everyone poorer than he met them as Governor.

Another area he also failed woefully is failure to provide electricity. Before his assumption in office as Governor of the state, there was constant power supply, but as soon as he became the Governor of the state, he killed all that. He pretended to provide electricity by dismantling the existing Gas Turbine and brought in a new one, but ‘NO’, it was only a pretense as he refused to pay Gas which is used for the powering of the state, thereby throwing the state into darkness for 8 years as the public power suppliers couldn’t provide light for the people of the state. As far as he is concerned, he has enormous state wealth to provide power for himself and his family. What kind of man is Dickson? Judge for yourself.

Another area which Dickson failed woefully is in infrastructures. For 8 years, he couldn’t construct even a single standard road even in the state capital, Yenagoa. The few roads he embarked upon are still undergoing construction and the funds he has committed to these ongoing roads are enormous yet the roads are still not completed for his 8 years of inglorious rule in the state.

Dickson also failed big in the industrialization of the state which he was talking big, but what did we see in 8 years, there are no production factories anywhere in the state. Remember that at the beginning of his tenure, he transferred a whooping sum of N10b in search of investors, but 8 years down the line, no investors came in from anywhere in the world to construct ant productive industries.

It is true that at Ebedebiri in Sagbama LGA (his own LGA) it is reported that a Starch Processing factory is under construction, but that too is never near completion. I remembered those days, there were reports of some ‘School-to-Land farms were producing agricultural items but that too has been killed by Dickson. As we speak, there are no products produced in any part of the state. In fact everything that was planted by his predecessors have been utterly destroyed. What does that tell of Dickson - that he is a killer of the big dreams of the founding fathers of the state. Too bad.

Yes, he claims to love education, but where are the qualified teachers in our primary and secondary schools? The last time I checked, it was reported widely on the pages of Newspapers that 80%of our primary and secondary schools across the state have just 1 single teachers or at best 2 or 3 teachers except in Yenagoa and few communities accessible to land transport, all other schools have no teachers to teach our children. Is that the fake emergency in education he declared when he assumed office as governor of the state?

It is also I’d rly acclimated that majorly of the schools he built are not built according to the needs of the localities where they are sited. In some communities where the so called model schools are built, the students population are very low, leading to gross under utilization of the facilities. As we speak, the schools have started dilapidated as a result of given the contracts to his handpicked sub-standard surrogate contractors. Anyone can check out this information, as it is now public knowledge.

With barely a little more than 2 weeks to his inglorious exit as a Governor of this mineral-rich state, last year’s December salaries have not been paid to all pensioners, 7 higher institutions, even his own political appointees and other political support thugs have not received their December, 2019 salaries, leading to blocking of the government house to demand for their monies owed them.

This is too shameful, disgraceful and inglorious of a man who talks tough in any matter in the state and sometimes in national affairs.

On a final note, I want to suggest and advise Dickson to pay all outstanding financial obligations before exiting the stage as Governor of the state.

A word they say is enough for the wise.
