I will give a general basic information on the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning light and how to fix the issue.

First what is TPMS and TPMS and why is it important? The TPMS dashboard warning light looks like this

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor was introduced into the auto manufacturing industry in the new model cars in the late 1990s. The function of the TPMS just as the name implies is to monitor the pressure of your car's tires.
Your TPMS helps you to avoid potentially unsafe situations by monitoring the air pressure in your tires and alerting you when one or more or all of your tires drop by 25 percent or more below its recommended pressure. Your dashboard will display either the official TPMS symbol or a graphic indicating which tire is in need of air. It can be tough to tell if the air in a tire is too low or too high just by looking at it.
Each car and each tire has the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure for safe driving, tires durability, vehicles stability, fuel economy and best handling.
The TPMS warning light would triggered on whenever any of the following happens:
1. If one or more or all of your car's tire is under-inflated. That is, the air pressure in one or more of your tires is not up to the specified amount.
2. If one or more of your tires is over inflated.
3. Rise or fall in temperature of the environment can cause the air pressure to drop just below or above the recommended tire pressure. But the light would go off once the temperature adjust in most cases. It's also an indication that you need to do proper tire pressure checks and gauge.
4. Whenever the battery of one or more of your tires TPMS sensor goes dead. The TPMS sensor battery is made to last for over ten years, but in most cases, you may have to replace the sensor once it's indicated that it's bad after scanning the car.
5. Some latest model vehicles use indirect tire pressure monitoring system. This way, whenever you change tire size or uneven tire pressure across the legs of the vehicle, the TPMS light may be triggered.
6. If there is any minor leakage.
7. If all tires have been gauged accurately to the specified pressure and the TPMS light still stays on: make sure you scan the vehicle. Afterwards, check to see if the extra tire was not swapped by the technician, this is because the extra tire may have a bad TPMS sensor, or it could be that the sensor on the new tire rim is not calibrate for your car's onboard computer and hence the alarm.
8. It could be that while the wheel balancing was done on your car, one or more of the sensors got damaged. A good auto scanning tool should reveal which one of the TPMS sensors is affected.
9. In some brands or models, once the TPMS light goes on, it stays on even after every necessary repairs have been done unless/until a scanner is used to erase or reprogram the error code. Some cars also have a knob close to the steering wheel dedicated for erasing the TPMS light and code.
10. If the car uses indirect TPMS system, the tire pressure is monitored by the ABS system through detecting variation in speed of any tire below specified pressure. So, changing any of the tire size can trigger the TPMS light regardless of whether you guage the tire to specified pressure or not.

Tpms light came up after a wheel balance procedure.

Basically and since your car was not displaying TPMS light before the wheel balancing procedure but afterward, I will suggest you do the following.:
1. Locate a tire/wheel balancing shop that has an electronic tire inflator and properly gauge the tires again with the automatic system.
2. Have an experienced auto professional help you erase the light with the car manufacturer's installed button dedicated for that. Most cars have this on them.
3. If the TPMS light still persists, have the vehicle scanned with updated OBD2 scanner and any results given for your car would be acted upon by the technician who scanned it.
4. If there was any tire change or tire rotation carried out during the wheel balancing procedure, your car's TPMS for the four legs may need to be synchronized with a good scanner. The scanner may also reveal more useful info.
5. Replace any damaged TPMS sensor ASAP if that's the only option you're left with.

Car is a Toyota camry 2010,thanks for all your inputs so far.A technician scanned the car recently but couldn't point to anything concerning the tpms.
I guess his scanner was not updated or sophisticated enough to diagnose it.I will further try all you listed here.
