There was pandemonium on Thursday in the Olomore axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, when operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force allegedly shot two traders.

The SARS operatives were reported to have stormed Olomore Pepper Market while chasing an internet fraudster also known as Yahoo boy, who ran into the market.

Findings showed that stray bullets from the SARS officers’ gunshots hit two pepper sellers in the market during the chase.

An eye witness identified simply as Adamu told The PUNCH that one of the victims was shot in the head and the other was shot in the leg.

Adamu said the victims had been rushed to a nearby hospital.

There has been no confirmation that the victim shot in the head died as of the time of filing this report but the other victim it was gathered is being treated at the undisclosed hospital.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, had yet to reply a text message sent to his phone and several calls made to his phone were not answered as of the time of filing this report.

And some people still believe the country has a leader. What a shame! Chasing an allege armless citizen with life bullets because they want to extort them. Why not go to the Northeast to find your match.

For the past 3 years, we have been complaining about SARS brutality. Nothing has been done. Now SARS have become so emancipated that they do robberies and indulge in extra-judicial killings and still nothing is happening. The IGP is doing nothing about it, neither is Buhari or that weak man Osinbajo. This means that the will of the people is not being taken as priority. Nigeria is a country where democracy does not work. Now, I am really considering leaving this shythole. I deserve to live someplace where the system works.

Nigeria is getting worse every passing minute. Our leaders are stealing, our people are looking and those meant to protect us are killing. Who will save us from this quagmire we have found ourselves in?? Who will give us the voice that we have lost? We can only redeem ourselves with a collective resolve as Nigerians before we are all 6ft under. Today's survivors are tomorrow victims. Open your mouth wide and wail because a child beaten is permitted to cry. THINGS ARE NOT WORKING

The news is unconfirmed, but can someone please tell me when armed robbery became cyber crime??. What meaningful contribution is sars making to Nigeria's security apart from extortion and harassment?. But I know say wen we don reach, no one will teach us to fight for ourselves.

When nothing is working, then don't expect anything good.

The lawyers/Judges and Police are the main problem of this Nation.

Bastard set of people.

I have always been an advocate of "two wrongs do not make a right", but in the case of SARS, all bets are off. These guys should be lynched when cases like this happen. They deserve no mercy, they are wild dogs. When they start getting killed, the government will do something about it, since its obvious that our leaders don't care about innocent lives being wasted by these demons.

Just 2 questions here: 1. What's the connection between Yahoo boys and anti-robbery squad? Number 2. Why use lethal force in a crowded market? Were the Yahoo boys armed?

Our security agents needs to be accountable for their actions, they are becoming very careless. Rules of engagement needs to be clearly defined to those block heads bearing arms.

Nigeria police force lacks proper training. In saner climes, a police officer is a respected member of the community.

This their lack of proper training is causing avoidable death to Nigerians.
