A Student of the University of Ilorin, who is taking a Postgraduate degree in the Department of Performing Arts (@tundexmania) shared an image of an examination script he took yesterday, that evidently had an inquiry on Social Media.

The inquiry which is; “Write a play-let to support the inherent paradox of the Postcolonial culture of Naira Marley and the Marlians” was even made mandatory and that is certainly the tallness, all things considered, See picture below;

Come on, so the Professor was of the opinion that anyone taking his class must have an idea of who Naira Marley is.

And you say Naira Marley is not the Greatest of All Time?
He's not!

This is a perfect scholarly question. It only takes a scholar to understand the depth of the context of discourse. It only takes the deep to understand the deep in Theatre Scholarship!

There is a connect between the theatre and the society (The town & The gown) especially in the context of playwriting which is a perfect mirror of the society.

Of course, the Prof just observed a paradigm shift from discourse on irrelevant texts to the currency of the social culture which is necessary in the post-colonial Nigeria and during this fourth industrial revolution.
Absolutely, nothing wrong with this question!

The question is perfect, this is a postgraduate course on performing Art for crying out loud.

If these suppose performing Art students don’t know anything about performing Art in Nigeria, they deserve to fail....and if they are tuned to performing Art in Nigeria, they will never miss the cultural influence of Naira Marley.

Apart from Fela, he is the only musician in Nigeria that have instilled a way of life on a segment of Nigeria population. Nigeria Universities should study this trend and see how it will affect us as a Nation....ignoring a problem is never a solution, rather you study it, learn from it and use the same propagation pattern to reach the same segment of the population affected by this.

Well I can guess who the Prof is. It shows that the academics is still much in tune with the reality in the society. It's deep and thoughtful of the said Prof. Reality of life must be brought to the theatre, it should not be about fiction only, Originality is very important for the growth of the theatre world. Greatest Pasaite.

Ignorance is no excuse! That's what I can deduce from this.

The fact that your are not a Marian doesn't stop you from knowing what and who they are all about. Always be in the know, watch TV, read the papers, listen to the radio if you can.

Thank God for Nairaland, it's a collection of most and more.

You're paying an iota of attention to that one? Every single word in that paper seem subtle to him, it appears too much to expect a sense of interpretation from him.

That's it, poor education of mind. Now, endeavour to correlate the practical application of theoretical approach in an exam to the pride expressed as an emblematic notion of an institution, please.

Use those cells in your head, kindly. Learn to understand what a practical interpretation of theory is.

Quite easy to understand alumni of schools that need to be schooled.

An unintelligent fool will think this is a good thing for Marley Marley,it's a bad news for both Marley and the masters students, most of you don't even know what a paradox his.
The lecturer is tells them to justify crime which is an almost impossible question.
