*YAPJEN CALLS ON GOVERNORS, PRIVATE SECTOR TO TAKE PROACTIVE MEASURES.*

The Youth Advocates for peace Justice and Empowerment Network (YAPJEN) has called on Nigeria Governors complete under the aegis of Nigeria Governor's Forum and the private sectors to take proactive measures in their respective states to forestall any incidence of covid19.

Speaking to Newsmen in Abuja, the nations capital, Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, the Executive Director of YAPJEN called on the Governors to provide testing kits, emergence centres and toll free line where the citizens can call and report any suspicion of symptoms of the dreaded virus.

The group expressed dismayed that there are no testing centres in four geo political zone in the country and called on the government to collaborate with the private sector to forestall any incidence.


YAPJEN expressed concern that despite the threats posed by the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, the Government is yet to meet the demands of striking doctors who had down their tools over their welfare and called on the government to meet the demands of the medical doctors to enable them respond to the global emergency.

The group further called on the private sector to exhibit their corporate social responsibility by devising and sponsoring media awareness campaign which will be aimed at sensitizing the citizens on how to stay safe.

The group wondered that the level of information available to the citizens is still very low as many are yet to come to terms with the reality of the pandemic and thus not putting measures in place to combat it.

YAPJEN further called on the national orientation agency to intensify awareness and information dissemination to protect the citizens.
