The last couple of days has been filled with so much tension and confusion in Rivers State, ranging from the closure of all boarders, closure of markets, to the ban/restrictions on how services should be held in worship centres and more recently the dust to dawn curfew imposed on some areas in the state.
The state government should reconsider the closure of markets because a lot of people in the state do not have the means to 'stock up' and also there are civil servants in the state that are yet to receive their March salaries.
The closure of the markets is a very difficult pill to swallow especially for those who earn their living on daily sales in the market. The prices of foodstuff in the state has skyrocketed as some sellers are now sellers their food as hard drugs and a lot of people have little or nothing to eat. Considering the fact that the state government has not (and definitely will not) provide any palliative measure, consideration should be given to those bringing foodstuff into the state and also those selling foodstuff in the markets not forgetting the food vendors.
We need to eat and stay alive in order to win the war against COVID-19.
