No one knows how long this epidemic will last, if govt should pay now and unable to continue with the payment, the outcome will be worse than not paying anything at all from the start

How much do you think 200 million persons will get when they share 1 billion?

We know they will not share anything, but let's just assume.

Simple analysis federal reserve stands at $35.52 billion dollars, and there are about 36.8 million accounts linked to BVN, so if the federal government decides to credit #20,000 each to all account linked with bvn, they will only remove #736 billion (naira) which is equal to $1.9billion ,then subtract $1.9billion from $35.52 billion The federal government will still have $33.6billion which is not that significant in terms of what it is going to solve for Nigerians!

Okay you say #800 billion will pay 40 million registered bvn 20k..

Here is my own analysis if at all it will happen., let's assume the population of Nigeria is 200 million, with 1billion naira you can share 5k to 200 million persons in Nigeria.

so how come 40 million persons will need 800 billion naira to receive 20k?

5k to 200millon people is 1trillion.
5,000 × 200,000,000= 1,000,000,000,000.

2billion dollars from our reserves is enough for the 40million bvn holders to get 20000naira each. But they won't share it

And where do you expect the FG to get the money?

Thank you for this. I was talking with someone who think the government should share some money through the BVN the other day that his sugestion ain't feasible. He went on ranting like all the donations the FG got should be splitted into all the BVN accounts instead of using it to procure medical equipments to support the hospitals, citing hunger as a more dangerous problem right now during this lockdown than any other necessity. I had to bring out a calculator to let him realised his folly.
Even as the government shared N5000 among our estimated*(done during our argument) 50million BVN holders, it would still dig a whole vast hole on the budget and also do our will to empower our healthcare a hell of a blow at this trying time. I let him realised the focus should rather be on the most vulnerable as the government suggested because spending the two hundred and fifty billion (that we arrived at after the calculation during our argument) on anything other than healthcare would be a bad idea with the economy already suffering visible degradation.
People just need to think. Some things are almost impossible to do.

Why don't you consult your calculator before you rant against the figure. Even sharing just N5000 for each Bvn holder would do the budget a bad damage and yet, fail to salvage the purpose onto which it's done; which is to alleviate the sufferness of people during the lockdown because the money cannot just take anybody through.

And ultimately, it reduces the chances of improving on the medical facilities which should be key in case the pandemic becomes overwhelming in the country. Just reflect on this.

Quite fine we know the kind of people we have as leader but that shouldn't be a yardstick for demanding for a bad decision. What we'd rather be pushing for as the numero uno on the list of necessity this trying moment is the empowerment of our health facilities and other infrastructures. The palliatives should be secondary considering the available financial resources and the circumstance surrounding the economy. Remember the price of crude oil which the economy rest on has crashed badly in recent times.

Yes agreed as regarding the crude oil but it's so disappointing that despite several revenues we have it's only crude oil they rest on, let's leave that what happened to the recovered billions and millions where is the money, all the money being donated how did they spend it. I personally don't expect anything but stories from them I just pity those who have hope that they will share money

The FG can't afford to pay Nigerians a reasonable amount so the sensible thing would be not to have a lockdown.

The lockdown can create a humanitarian crisis that will kill more people than the actual deaths from coronavirus.

You have a point too. Methink the problem of this nation are the subjects the so-called greedy leaders govern over. No elected repesentative is more powerful than the electorates; if only we can exercise that power, this nation would've turn around for good.
First off, the power to force a change is in our unity. Trust me, even though another political party step onto the podium today, the issues we are dealing with will still remain our nemesis because the entire structure is messed up. Each elected member has come to believe s/he has no or little need for worry because there will ever be a faction of the population who would defend him/her irrespective of the performance hence the misbehaviour and resources mismanagement. And ain't that true? Look around at all the politicians we have today and you'll realise each one of them has a huge fanbase and that's not because of their performance 'cause not many of them score upto average but because of the religious, tribal and/or partisan affiliation.
Youth of today need to look into this and begin demanding for performances. Having said this though, things had to be carefully implemented without making a faction look bad. We can demand for good governance without too many critism. A state resident can demand for basic needs from the state government without critisizing. Take for instance we need good water supply, we all can keep torturing the government with this same demand across all available fronts without abusing or making anybody look bad. This unity of purpose will force the politician's hand to do something because he would be afraid s/he might run into trouble anywhere because the demand is coming from everywhere.
And the way we glorified them had to stop. We all know these guys are looters but when they turn up in town, some nutcases would rather sing their praise for peanuts than to show their grief at some wrongs that they do. This is one problem we need to walk away from if we want this country to prosper. My take is to always call for a better performance especially when these politicians are in town and let them realise that their longetivity on that seat depend greatly on how better they fare. Simple. We may even demand for the removal of any of them together with petitions to the court and push in another long before the time for another general election. But this all depend on us. Eventhough the pertition may not work, at the general election, we can easily flush anyone out. If we lessen our critism and magnify our voice of demanding, we end up getting what we want because no politician can buy everyone. What they buy are only few who sow seed of patriotisms into many others using the tribal, religion and/or the party lines.
And lastly we should be ready to demand our right from the right quarters. Mostly we blame the FG for practically everything that happens in our respective state thereby exonerating the real culprit and condemning the wrong body. Quite alright the FG has some few things they owe each state like the allocations, good inter-state channels including good roads and rail networks, good power supply and few other support progrmme, but the onus should be on the state arms of government to make the state works. And how many state are working in this country of ours? I think except Lagos State that are a little above average in term of governance and policy-making, the rest are absolutely poor but majority of the residents of these states focus more on the central government than their immediate leaders. Until we start pointing fingers at the right body, this country would still have difficulty progressing to the promise land we all want.
This is just what i feel. I may be wrong though.
