BOMB BLAST: Al Jazeera Out to destabilse Nigeria – Presidency.

Headlines Jan 1, 2011

By Kingsley Omonobi

The presidency reacted angrily to a foreign media report that President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed Friday’s bombing at the Mogadishu barracks on the Islamic Sect, Boko Haram saying he couldn’t have said so since security agencies have not pin pointed any group as investigations was still on going.

It described the report as an outright lie aimed at destabilizing Nigeria.

A statement signed by Ima Niboro, Special adviser to President Jonathan on Media and Publicity titled Al Jazeera Correspondent is out to destabilize Nigeria reads, “Our attention has been drawn to the unfounded and sensational news item on Al Jazeera television claiming that Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has blamed the fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, for the bomb blast which occurred in Abuja yesterday”.

“This is an outright lie. Nowhere, and at no time has the President held any particular group responsible for the attack. Additionally, neither the Nigerian security services nor the Nigerian government have confirmed those behind the attacks”.

“It amounts to sheer sensationalism to attribute to the president or the federal government any such claim. It is irresponsible journalism and we condemn it out rightly”.

“The statement from the president’s media office was clear when it said that evil people determined to turn the joys of fellow Nigerians to
ashes detonated a bomb at a barracks market in the Federal Capital
City.”

It noted that “If we meant Boko Haram, or any other group, we would state it very clearly. But Al Jazeera’s unique journalism in Nigeria is not
strange to us. When the tragedy of the October 1, 2010, bomb blasts
occurred, they went to town with outlandish claims against the presidency that were unfounded and unsubstantiated”.

“This brand of journalism defies reason. For the purpose of clarity, neither the President nor the security agencies have come out to state those behind the attacks. Investigations are on, and at the end of the day, the real culprits would be unmasked”.

“There is also the need to state, again for the purpose of clarity, that four persons were killed in yesterday’s attack. Twenty- Six others were wounded, one of them a soldier” the statement said.

well, given that our President has demonstrated an expertise in absolving and blaming individuals or groups in similar occurrence just not too long ago, shall we then crucify Al Jazeera for jumping the gun and saying what the President had in mind?

Since when has Mr Joe learn to wait for security reports before exposing the rest of us to whatever comes out of his buccal cavity?

What if a video of Aljazeera claim emerges?

I hope for the sake of Jonathan Ima Niboro is sure, otherwise he may have simple poured fuel to a small fire.

Another lame attempt by an inept leader to divert attention to non issues. What's with GEJ and Al-Jazeera? Our president has a lot of national crises to contend with, yet he's busying himself with discrediting a news media outfit. GEJ's statement yesterday (delivered by Niboro) already showed where the government wants to face, yet they are here again denying a media organization that is simply stating the obvious.

Reading through other threads since the blast last night shows that the presidency is tacitly towing the religious line and poor Nigerians are falling for it, even when it's obvious that both Christians and Muslims were affected in the blast last nite.

Niboro should just keep his cavity shut and assist his weakling master to provide security for the citizenry.

So which security agent advised Jonathan when he absolved MEND of Abuja bombings?

No matter, whether they shout him down or not, he as a president, is suppose to have a national broadcast during a time like this to at least bring comfort to the minds of the citizens.

Please when will all these bomb trend end? Are they tryn to turn nigeria 2 iraq? Hmmm. Anywhere no more abj 4 me 4 now let me just keep watchn. At the end of the day, I feel 4 the innocent lives & their families. The president however is really nt doing enough. I mean something tangible should ve been put in place by now to check this bombings. But then this is not abt politics though as they always fall back on. Its about nigerians carryn their hearts in their palms when they are going on wt their businesses. You neva know where next and this issue of bombing has started trending after the "successful" execution and media attention/outcry of the Abuja bombing. Smh. May God deliver us. Meanwhile happy new yr to erybdy.

Perhaps you'll do us all a lot of good if you come up with a better reasoning. I'll surely learn from you if your argument is superior.

In a country where there's chaos almost everywhere, we are yet to hear a single word directly from Mr. President and you are here trying to figure out how Nigerians reason. Perhaps another way of thinking in 9ja which may appeal to your senses is given below:
debeginin:

Truth is Islamist extremist are behind these bombings, take it or leave it.

Ima Niboro is not 9ja's president and the last time I checked GEJ himself says we should not always believe what emanates from his camp except if it comes directly from him.

If you think my reasoning is defective, I'll suggest you go back and read the complete statement made by Niboro on behalf of GEJ. The link is here for you to check out.

I will not believe any story about GEJ's government except when his team denies such stories! Every statement or story denies by team GEJ have all turned out to be true.

Forgot to add that this ima niboro is becoming more jonathan than jonathan. He is a great opposite of the professionalism of segun adeniyi who was in a more critical situation than him. The more he talks, the more bad happens

Hypocrites. When GEJ made a statement immediately after the October 1 bombings, you all shout him down as someone who doesnt think before talking, he shouldnt have said what he said, he should have kept quiet. Now, he has kept quiet, and the opposite is now the yabbis, he should have said something. Anyway, this is NairaLand, opinions dont matter, because well meaning Nigerians and those who wish Nigeria well dont come here.

Your not thinking.Because he made a dumb comment, which it was, doesn't in anyway mean that as a president he has no obligation to address the nation on national broadcast in a time of chaos. Does this mean he can talk any how he wants? No! He should always be professional in all that he does being that he is the highest man in the land(s).

You are alluding to the fact that GEJ cannot make a press statement to Nigerians because he's not smart enough to abstain from pointing accusing fingers in a simple statement which is supposed to be aimed at assuring Nigerians that we have someone in charge. My sista you are simply helping the likes of me to reason better. Just as I said earlier, I'll tow your line once you prove me to be reasoning poorly. So far you are doing a good job at it! wink wink

Since he dodged going to his home state for the Law School opening in Bayelsa, he's probably dodging the cameras too, 'cos they may pose some security threats. Hence no new year broadcast! grin grin

Disjointed .looks coherentto me lol. In the modern day the president of a country is usually considered the highest man of the country of land. I put land(s) to suggest that there are nations with in nigeria such and Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa,Edo,Gwari, Tiv,Jukun land with in the amalgamated nigeria;however, GJ is the president and Top man of all(under nigeria).

Look through every post on this page, is there any that doesn't seem to have been made by a tout? GEJ called them wrestlers, but I think it is safe to add rewires, vulcanisers and hunters. Their posts are 100% abuse like agbero's, but thats no shock since their idols are THIEVES who plant bombs at night.

Its the politics of id!ots and low lives.

Ima Niboro of NL (aka Beaf/Faeb) and madam Ma_J_Blige, Al-Jazeera's report has just be confirmed by GEJ himself even when your namesake issued a statement denying it. I've always stated that one should not believe anything coming from team GEJ until they deny it. See link for yourself.

Here's the full statement from GEJ:

Jonathan links Jos bombers to Abuja barracks' explosion
BY Elizabeth Archibong
January 1, 2011 07:05PM

Preliminary analysis have shown that the explosives used in October 1 twin bombings in Abuja are similar to those that exploded in the Niger Delta, while the one that exploded at the Abacha Barracks in Abuja yesterday is similar to the ones that exploded in Jos, President Goodluck Jonathan said yesterday in Abuja.
Though investigations are still going on, the president noted that the Abuja bombing had the characteristics of the ones that exploded in Jos last week.
"The preliminary analysis of the explosives so far used in Nigeria, the one used in the 1st October explosion has the same characteristics with the ones that happened in Port Harcourt, Warri and some parts of the Niger Delta, it has been classified. The one that happened yesterday, from preliminary analysis, is identical with the ones that happened in Jos. So there are two routes, so as long as the security operatives know where the two routes are, we will get to where these things are coming from," Mr Jonathan said.
Speaking at the New Year service of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), Mr. Jonathan said Nigerians must learn to move their country forward rather than destroy or stagnate it through terrorism.
He noted that there are two things which have become very important and noticeable around the world today, technology and terrorism. He said countries that are succeeding do not have their citizens indulging in terrorism.
"In terrorism, the instruments they use is that of technology butinstead of using their scientific knowledge to climb, some people use it to drag their nations backward. If you look at nations that are developing, you talk of Brazil, those that were close to us during independence - India, Singapore, Malaysia, China, those that are developed United States, their citizens are not involved in terrorists attacks.
"They are moving their nations forward. But the demons who do not like good things, if a country wants to move forward and they look for a way to push you backwards and that is what we as a nation are experiencing," he said.
He further urged Nigerians to be calm and see this as a challenge that will be conquered.
"If you look at the journey of the Isrealites to go to the promised land, it was tortuous, a number of them even died along the way. We must have challenges. It was Bongos Ikwe who sang that 'nothing good come easy, this I know'.
"So nothing good will come so easily to us. For us to get where we want to go as a nation, we will have our obstacles. These explosives and explosions are part of the road bumps that are being placed but God will see us through. They will never stop Nigeria from where we are going to. We must work and produce a country for our children, a country where there will be no space for terrorists, a country where there will no bombers and people with explosives to deter us," Mr. Jonathan said. "I urge Christians to continue to pray that some of these people will even confess to Nigerians that at the appropriate time they will tell us that they are behind this. But for now, the security people are on it and they will get to the root of this matter. We will get to the root of the car bombs that started in Niger Delta and crept into Abuja and this one too that started in Jos and crept into Abuja."

Sons of demons

Condemning Mogadishu Barracks bombings, Mr. Jonathan said he wondered what kind of a person will plant bombs that will kill children.
"I saw on television, because I am yet to visit the victims, images of a very young child. I'm sure most of you must have seen it. As I came into the church and saw some of the young children, I wondered how somebody will plant an explosive that will kill any of these children under 10. What kind of person do you think that person is?
"Some people say they are politicians, some say they are religious fanatics, but to me they are pure criminals. They are ones demons are using these days not only in Nigeria. For those of you who have time to listen to world news on Aljazeera or CNN, you will see that terrorism is criss-crossing the whole world."

Even the Sultan of Sokoto has come out strongly to say that politicians were behind the Jos bombings. It is only fools who think otherwise, but is entertaining watching you people scale all records of id!ocy in your desperation. We will crush you.

The only thing GEJ knows now is that its the same bomb used in Warri, PH, ABJ, Jos. So? How does that reassure us?
