nigerianvenom:
Muhammad Sanusi II, the emir of Kano and the immediate past governor of the Central Bank (CBN), says President Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement of the CBN foreign exchange policy encourages corruption.

Lauding Buhari’s removal of “wasteful and corrupt fuel subsidies”, Sanusi said the current forex policy endorsed by the president encourages similar rent seeking and corruption which trailed the subsidy regime.

“He (Buhari) has put an end to the [crude] swap regime which is also one side of rent-seeking and corruption . . . he has made the NNPC start producing accounts, so there is greater transparency,” Sanusi told Financial Times.

“These measures are good for the economy and display strong political will to change the system. But getting monetary and fiscal policies right will be crucial for broader progress in structural reform.”

FT quoted the emir as saying the president’s anti-corruption stance was “totally inconsistent” with the foreign exchange regime he supported, adding that it “encourages corruption and rent-seeking similar to the fuel subsidy regime”.

The emir, who was CBN governor from 2009 to 2014, expressed his displeasure with the monetary policy regime which he said has “very obvious drawbacks that far outweigh its dubious benefits”.

“Unfortunately, because the exchange rate is right out there in front now, monetary policy is being seen as the barometer for broader economic thinking,” he said.

We have heard this crap several times, which was why you guys increased pump price when you came to power and yet, we later heard you were still paying subsidy. Kuku tell us you want to deceive us again as usual so you could prevail on increasing the pump price further.

Wait a minute, where are the proofs of what you said you would use the proceeds for, which you showed us on telly in 3D when you took office, begging us to endure and comply with you? Where are the jobs, improved security, the massive infrastructural development, good health care, etc which you promised us the subsidy proceeds would be used for ? Are we not the biggest country in africa with the least number of ventilators? God is so merciful on us. Had what hit newyork been our experience in Nigeria, by now everyone would have been long forgotten , given your ineptitude. Tell us you are increasing the pump price again and stop talking about subsidy removal.

cheesy grin

Have they decided to do that, or things will go back to status quo once the pandemic is over?
Anyway, they should consider setting up emergency services too like ambulance services, trained paramedics etc.
Anyone that puts their hope on any Nigerian government will just end up disappointed.

You say? Person been talk?

The one wey una do before, anybody notice am?

Audio subsidy.

Nigeria fg no get any level on the world stage. A country without electricity is like a person wey break hand, but still wan do am wrestling. Only to give excuses later.

Incompetence has been Nigeria's trademark since 1970 till today. Do you think these other countries can't steal 85% of their country's wealth every year? They choose not to because they have conscience. Their stealing is 15% or less, and half the time, they are caught and disgraced.

We need to bring electricity to Nigeria, and solar or hydro is not our answer. It should be 70% serious and reliable source, in conjunction with solar and others.

After that you can speak with authority and conviction.

The truth is that it's a curse to be led by a Fulani who would go to school but still be reasoning like a cow. Buhari failed in 1985 as President, he was merely made relevant by his deputy, Brig.Gen. Tunde Idiagbon, a Yoruba born by a Fulani woman in Kwara state. He failed as PTF leader and still failing. What sort of a President will not visit Lagos after explosions destroyed his people and their property? The Fulanis are incharge of NNPC, Police, Army, economy etc. but just check out. These institutions are in a sorry state. People who can't run a business in a 1-room office are given Nigeria to destroy but some people somewhere who always like to waste their votes will become clueless and frustrated when sh*its hit the ceiling fan, as is the case now. Today they will be shouting we want ''restructuring'' but if little crumbs shift to their side tomorrow, they will all shut up in conspiracy. They have been doing this since 1960 and now every kid Knows they can't be trusted. Spits!
