Your observation is partially correct, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. The truth is that the barrier was created to bar non muslims from coming on muslim/Islamic threads; as they have often do to start hailing insults and berating the Muslims on posts which are even not on general threads.

And another truth, a true Muslim will not insult Christ or Christian's just for the fun of it cos part of the Article of Faith are:
*Believe in Allah (Jehovah)
*Believe in the angels
*Believe in the prophets (which Christ, Moses, Joseph, Mohammed saw are one of)
*Believe in the Books of Allah(Taurat-torah, Zabur-psalm, Injeel-the Bible, Quran)

A true Muslim won't just go on a Christian thread or topic and start insulting their faith, Christ or the Christians.

This is a measure to prevent someone just coming on to derail the thread. It's our God-given and constitutionally right to be able to assemble freely without being subject to any dehumanizing ridiculing as long as we do so within the ambit of the law.

So, if the Christians too feel the Muslims invade their threads so as to derail the topics of discussion, it's fine if a check is put in place
