(CNN) -- Alireza Pahlavi, son of the former shah of Iran, died Tuesday morning at his home in Boston, Massachusetts, a family spokesman said. The spokesman said it was a suicide.
Pahlavi, 44, was the son of the former shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, who was overthrown in 1979 and died the following year in exile in Cairo, Egypt.
"It is with immense grief that we would like to inform our compatriots of the passing away of Prince Alireza Pahlavi," the family website said.
"Like millions of young Iranians, he too was deeply disturbed by all the ills fallen upon his beloved homeland, as well as carrying the burden of losing a father and a sister in his young life. Although he struggled for years to overcome his sorrow, he finally succumbed."
The family learned of the death Tuesday at 2:30 a.m., said spokesman Ahmad Oveyssi.
Born in Tehran on July 28, 1966, Pahlavi attended schools in Iran before traveling to the United States in 1979 during the Iranian revolution. He obtained a B.A. from Princeton University in 1984 and a masters degree from Columbia University in 1992 and attended Harvard University in pursuit of a Ph. D. in Ancient Iranian Studies.
In June 2001, Pahlavi's sister, Leila Pahlavi, also committed suicide.
He is survived by his mother, Farah Pahlavi, his older brother Reza, his sister Farahnaz and his half-sister Shahnaz.

Repugnant Zionist Terrorist-RZT

Yeah the Glory days of Iran indeed only to a perverse Zionist like Frosbel
The shah's regime suppressed and marginalized its opponents with the help of Iran's security and intelligence organization, the SAVAK. Relying on oil revenues, which sharply increased in late 1973, the Shah pursued his goal of developing Iran as a mighty regional power dedicated to social reform and economic development. Yet he continually sidestepped democratic arrangements and refused to allow meaningful civic and political liberties, remaining unresponsive to public opinion.

By the mid-1970s the Shah reigned amidst widespread discontent caused by the continuing repressiveness of his regime, socioeconomic changes that benefited some classes at the expense of others, and the increasing gap between the ruling elite and the disaffected populace. Islamic leaders, particularly the exiled cleric Ayatollah Khomeini, were able to focus this discontent with a populist ideology tied to Islamic principles and calls for the overthrow of the shah. The Shah's government collapsed following widespread uprisings in 1978 -1979 and consequently an Islamic Republic succeeded his regime.

To them Christmas or New YEAR is even the best time to slaughter more infidels, solely to spoil their fun.

Jihad madness.

Anyway what goes up will come down, one day they will reap the fruits of their diabolical and wicked ways.

Iran under the shah were most definitely not glory days, the shah was one of the most corrupt dictators ever to rule Iran, he amassed millions of ill gotten wealth after siphoning away his countries oil revenues and he ruled over his people as vedaxcool noted above with the savage assisstance of the iranian secret police (Savak) and the CIA. Its sad that both of his children ended their lives this way but sometimes i wonder whether the sins of the father are sometimes revisited in the lives of their children. I doubt that the Iranians will be mourning this man's death after what his father did to their country.
