Uduaghan’ Ll Be Governor Again, Says Jonathan by Kennyblues(m): 9:04am On Jan 05, 2011
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday led top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to drum up support for the party’s candidate in the Delta State governorship rerun election, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Jonathan, who was accompanied by Vice President Namadi Sambo and the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, said the party would continue to give Uduaghan the support to win the election.

Jonathan said the party supporting Uduaghan is because he had performed while in office.

He told the crowd at the Warri Township Stadium that his visit was to confirm Uduaghan as governor, stressing that the people had already showed their support for him.

His words: “Delta people have already been converted for Uduaghan. The Federal Government will continue to work with him. He has shown commitment to develop the state in three years.

“We need him. We want him and we will work with him. This is no time for toddlers. Therefore, I urge all Deltans to file out for Uduaghan. I am optimistic that on Thursday (tomorrow), he is going back to the Government House to continue with the good work he had started in the state.”

The President also rated the PDP candidate high in the governorship debate organised on Monday by Channels TV.

He said the state should not be used for guinea pig experiment by inexperienced politicians, who have nothing to offer.

Sambo said Uduaghan would return as governor on Friday.

He urged the people to help the state consolidate by voting for him.

Nwodo, urged the people to vote for Uduaghan, saying that Delta, being a strong PDP state, should not be allowed to be captured by other parties.

He urged party members who had opposing views to sheathe their swords and put their weight behind the ousted governor to brighten his chances at the rerun.

“We come not to ask for votes but to thank the people of Delta for standing for PDP since 1999. Right from the inception, PDP has been in charge of the state. We have done it before and on January 6, we will do it again. Let all hands be on deck and members should shun intra-party activities and file out for Uduaghan,” Nwodo pleaded.
