Meet Priscilla Ekwere Eleje, the First Female To Have Her Signature On The Nigerian Currency.

History was made as Mrs Priscilla Ekwere Eleje becomes the first woman to have her signature on the naira note.

Mrs Ekwere Eleje is the first female Director of Currency Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. She is a Native of Afikpo in Ebonyi State, has a degree in Psychology from the University of Jos Plateau State and a Certified lnformation System Auditor(CISA) as well. .
She was confirmed as a Substantive Director of CBN on August 30, 2018, prior to her appointment, She held the position in an acting Capacity. The first set of Naira currency featuring her Signature Was The 1000 Naira note that came into Circulation in 2019.

Mrs Eleje is also an alumna of Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship programme in Banking and Management at Boston University, Massachusetts, USA.

She has made The lgbo Women and Nigeria proud.

That was a feat and Kudos to our women.

However, madam Priscilla Ekwueme Eleje has since exited the bank after reaching the statutory retirement age. She was replaced by Ahmed Bello Umar on December 5, 2019.
