Osun is a foremost river goddess in Yorubaland and one of the powerful wives of a prominent Alaafin of Oyo and that's where the river got it's name and then the state.

Also, I'm not convinced about Ondo and Oyo

Both the present Anambra State and the present Enugu State were existing as Anambra State before 1991!

Hence, it would have been correct for you to say Enugu State was created in 1991 not Anambra State!! Forget the fact that the newly created Enugu State went with the old capital!!

You are wrong OP about Lagos.

It was originally called "Lago de Curamo" by the Portugese explorers naming after a city in Portugal by the same name.

That of Akwa Ibom is not correct, the state was coined from Akwa Abasi Ibom, meaning mighty God.. a State named after God...

Okay, Abuja was named after the first settler called Abubakar who was fair in complexion (jaa in Hausa language). They refer to him as Abu jaa (the fair Abu). Hence the name Abuja! Same thing applied to Suleja, named after the fair Suleiman ... Op, take note.

So in the case of Kwara,the Fulani boys did not only chase away that chicken warrior from his domain and installed emir in his place that they still dobale flat on the ground today to but also changed the name of what was known as river KWARA to River Niger,CHAI!!!!!!!

At first when they first started, it was a big fight between the 2 states , Anambra indigenes working in enugu was sent back to Anambra , Anambra on the other hand did same , so when it came to name , enugu state wanted it to be Anambra , capital enugu city , Anambra told them the omabara river didn't get to enugu , that's how it ended , they gave Wawa state a thought before they settled finally as enugu , all other 9 new states created with Anambra got new names , only Anambra got already existing name.

You are just recounting a lazy tale told to you by an older aunt or uncle...

There is no how Enugu people could have opted to be called Anambra because it is clear that Anambra as a geographical and cultural identity pertained to the western half of the old Anambra State.

In any case, the deliberations of the state creation committees were not made public so what you are suggesting is just a figment of an unengaged imagination...
