Gone are the days Nollywood is seen as a non lucrative sector but now, the story is totally different.

Nollywood is pictured from the profitable angle with its rapid growth attributed to the ever increasing budgets and investments.

Nollywood had since provided more opportunities avenues for filmmakers to explore more possibilities.

Below is the list of Nollywood movies with the biggest budgets on record.

Half of a Yellow Sun (2013) – Estimated Budget: N1.3 – 1.6 billion

Half of a Yellow Sun is a love story that follows two sisters who are caught up in the outbreak of the Nigerian Civil War.

Its an historical fiction drama directed by Biyi Bandele and based on the novel of the same name by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

’76 (2016) – Estimated Budget: N600 million

This is a movie about a soldier who gets accused of being involved in the unsuccessful 1976 military coup and assassination of General Murtala Muhammed and the heavily pregnant wife gets entangled in an emotional dilemma.

The CEO (2016) – Estimated Budget: N600 million

This tells the story of five of top members of a company who are sent to a retreat and told one of them will become the new CEO. The cordial atmosphere then turns into a competition who can outshine others.

The film was directed by Kunle Afolayan starring the likes of Kemi Lala Akindoju, Hilda Dokubo, Jimmy Jean-Louis and Angelique Kidjo.

93 Days (2016) – Estimated Budget: N400 million

Starring Bimbo Akintola, Danny Glover and Bimbo Manuel, the story tells the story of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Nigeria and its successful containment by health workers from a Lagos hospital.

October 1 (2014) – Estimated Budget: N330 million

In a 1960 settings, October 1 tells the story of the Nigerian police detective dispatched to investigate the murders of women in a small community before independence.

The Wedding Party 2 (2017) – Estimated Budget: N300 million

After a thrilling part one, The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai brings us up to date with the newly married couple who are now expecting a baby.

The Wedding Party (2016) – Estimated Budget: N60 million

The Wedding Party is a lovely romantic comedy movie directed by Kemi Adetiba.

It starred the likes of Banky W, Adesua Etomi, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Sola Sobowale and so on.

The Figurine (2009) – Estiamted Budget: N50 – N70 million

Another supernatural thriller directed by Kunle Afolayan, The Figurine tells the story of two friends who finds a mystical sculpture that bestows good luck for seven years but has dark consequences in the years that follow these.

It stars the likes of Ramsey Nouah and Omoni Oboli.

Okafor’s Law (2016) – Estimated Budget: N40 million

Okafor’s law states that once a man has had a woman, he can have her again at anytime, and Chuks (Blossom Chukwujekwu) a believer, in the law puts it to a test with past girlfriends over a 21-day period.

Last Flight to Abuja (2012) – Estimated Budget: N40 million

A Nigerian commercial plane experiences mid air difficulties and a series of flashbacks unravels the twists, turns and leaps of fate that put each passenger on that fateful flight.

The movie which stars the likes of Jim Iyke, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and son, was directed by Obi Emelonye.

I've seen wedding party 1- wasn't too impressed didn't bother watching 2....i started half of a yellow sun seemed interesting but wasn't able to finish it(still on my laptop even as I type).

Basically I'm not a huge fan of Nigerian movies and I find myself watching series (foreign) more these days.

I think its because u dont fancy Nollywood movies, those movies are interesting in my opinion because I fancy Nollywood movies, even if they produced the best Nollywood movie ever, it still won't be interesting to u, cos u dont fancy it
