Petrol To Sell At 117 Per Litre As PPMC Slashes Ex-Depot Prices by awesomely: 10:51pm On May 06, 2020
THE Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Wednesday, slashed the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, to N108 per litre, a move reflecting the drop in crude oil prices. It is also expected to result in a lower pump price at petrol stations by end of this week.

In a memo to oil marketers and other stakeholders in the petroleum marketing business, dated May 5, 2020, with the subject: ‘Re: PPMC Petroleum Products Prices for May 2020,’ the PPMC also slashed the ex-depot price of Automotive Gasoline Oil, also known as diesel, to N164 per litre for depots in Lagos and N166 per litre for depots in Oghara, Calabar, Port Harcourt, among others.

The indicated that the new prices would take effect from May 5, 2020.
The ex-depot price is the price at which the depot owners sell the commodity to retail outlets across the country.

Though, the PPMC did not state the Expected Open Market Price of the commodity, which is the pump price at petrol stations, over the years, the difference between the ex-depot price and the pump price of petrol is usually around N9 per litre.

This means that at an ex-depot price of N108 per litre, the pump price of PMS would be around N117 per litre, N8 lower than the current pump price of N125 per litre in most petrol stations and N6.50 lower than N123.50 per litre at NNPC retail outlets.

The responsibility of fixing petroleum products prices lies solely with the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), but the agency is yet to release the pricing templates for May 2020, as against its promise that the templates would be released on a monthly basis, to serve as guide for products pricing for each month.

Commenting on the reduction, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Kennie Obateru said, “The N108 new PPMC ex-depot price of PMS from N113.28 is a marketing strategy to make more sales while complying with PPPRA price template. We reviewed the ex-depot prices to enable us make more sales.
“For AGO, it’s a deregulated product and as such its prices are determined by market forces.”
PPMC, is one of the downstream subsidiaries of the NNPC.

Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, had few days ago, hinted of a possible deregulation of the Nigerian downstream petroleum sector, stating that the Federal Government had eliminated subsidy and under-recovery in the industry.

It is something that can help to steady transport fare charges as number of passengers per bus are reduced by social distancing.

Very few countries sells petroleum cheaper than Nigeria.
Subsidies has been completely revoked and it sells this low.
We need to take advantage and stop complaining..

Dear COVID-19

It’s been over a month since you restricted all our activities, not minding what we all had in place prior to your outbreak. Initially i thought it was just a temporal stay, but days turned weeks, weeks turned months and we’re still waiting in uncertainty.

To say I’m not agitated on how things have turned out is laughable. I wish you never existed, at least not in my generation. What do you stand to benefit in The DEATHS, Those shocked businesses and business trips you’ve halted, those you’ve relieved off their jobs, the hunger and hardship you’ve brought, those exams you stopped not minding how well we’ve prepared for them.

But then I ask, will praying or lamenting bring a solution to this pandemic? “Tongue-tied” But I will keep praying for our front-liners.

Guns can kill but same guns can protect. Arrows can kill but can be used for hunting. Dear COVID-19, I ask again, among your numerous maladies, what advantage have you provided ? You’ve done enough, why not leave and allow us use the rest of the year in healing mentally, emotionally and physically? Living right now is scary. Dear Hunger you know we’ve come a long way, why not spare us for now while we focus on combating this stranger called COVID-19?

Where are the vaccines ? Oh Humanity! See what you’ve been reduced to. But there’s HOPE, whether sooner or later, Humanity will win the fight against this Virus

—————————————————-
Indeed when all these are over, I will appreciate life more and be down to earth. Because it’s obvious God is the giver of life and everyone is equal whether rich or poor. Caucasian or Negroid

Mobil in Nigeria is considering shutting down some rigs cos supply is more than demand.
Total is talking about making losses.
Nigeria currently has more than 80 Million barrels of crude on oil tankers at anchor in different destination countries. No buyers. It's not about Buhari.

They would still call all of us to carry basin to Nnpc and be sharing crude as palliatives. Be using it to cook soup like our brothers under bondage in Abia.

Please get it right , deport price is different from pump price. Pump price is still N125

Ex depot price means the price depots sell to marketers before transporting to filling stations. The news never said the pump price is N108.

According to the statement, the pump price should be N115, not that FG made it N115.

It is an assumption on what the price should be and not what it will be.

There is no change in the current pump price yet according to the news.
