The truth is that the Benin Uni issued the attestation and it was from the University and Attestation in French means Certificate. This has been reconfirmed by the University in February. A dispassionate arbiter will review all matters and treat them on their merit without trying to settle ethnic scores by other means... Oga, by the time this report was written by the Guardian, there were several facts that havent become public. It was the first whistle the board blew and when they arm twisted ICPC to reopen an investigation they had concluded and closed, which cleared the former DG

A new ICPC panel came up and has not even concluded their report before the board hurriedly came with an indictment and claimed he is guilty

Do you really think if this man is guilty he would be a free man or he would not have been dismissed? If he forged that certificate, he wont even simply be reduced by just a single level. He would have been fired and handed over to EFCC or police

There has been several facts that have emerged since Feb when this initial report came up. The school has severally confirmed the certificate as genuine and even issued a new attestation, same as they gave in 2001, reconfirming its genuiness. I literally graduated with this guy and had many cross reference publications with him

Do you complete a PhD programme without a thesis defence ? Someone completed a PhD program in 2001 without thesis defence. He did re-registration in the University in 2019/2020 session in order to defend in February, 2020. Is that how PhD programmes are run in the University you went to? Do you re-register for a programme that you've finished and you've been awarded certificate for? Mind you the certificate he presented recently after the defence had February, 2020 as its effective date. That sums it all. Yet you're defending the indefensible. Many of us here are in the academia, have PhD and are familiar with how things work in the academia being stakeholders.

As for your point if it was Yoruba, whether I'll talk. Kemi Adeosun story was investigated and made public by Premium Times, owned by a Yoruba man. Yorubas were the most vocal calling for her removal. We didn't create threads and needless points to defend her like you're doing now.

Chima Igwe forged a PHD attestation to get rapidly promoted since 2002. He did not complete the PhD program until 2020, 18 years later. Demoting him shouldn’t even be an option in the first place, he should have been dismissed outrightly. But no, his Igbo brother want to keep him in office as DG of a federal research agency. The same people who cry about merit everyday are the ones doing everything to destroy merit in the public service.

I even heard that Igwe didn't forge his Ph.D certificate, that it was actually the board that doesn't know that attestation means certificate in French universities, and that he also went back for them to revalidate it. We all don't know the truth until we hear from the minister. See I have nothing against the Chima guy honestly. I believe the guy is sound and competent at his job at FIIRO for him to have risen to the top in a reputable research institute. We're talking about somebody who bagged a First Class in a University like UNN. You can't achieve such feat if you're not sound. I also truly believe he completed his research work but did not defend when he should have. I don't understand such level of carelessness from someone of his standing. It's just unfortunate he created the loophole from which he's been attacked today.

How long are we going to wait to hear from the other side. If Chima is innocent in all this, I trust him to have issued a rebuttal to clear his name. No one would sit idly and watch his name being dragged in the mud if he can defend himself.
