Nigeria cannot fight the US alone. Africa leaders need to come together to save the bank from US and European control. AfDB is becoming too strong and providing support for African countries and the west are not happy about this. Adesina is also dismantling French control over the bank and indirectly over Francophone Africa countries. These are part of the reasons why they are against him.

The US is muzzling Adesina and there is really little or nothing that African leaders can do about it. Nordic nations that pledged to provide more funding for the bank are now in bed with US. Adesina may not survive this attack if the US continue this pressure. He will be sacrificed by African leaders.

Hopefully, the independent investigation will truly be independent. That way, Adesina has nothing to fear.

Having read Akinwumi Adesina's responses to each allegation made against him during first probe that cleared him, I am confident that he has nothing to fear on the part of integrity but I am not sure about the part of international politics. Imagine being accused of bribing President of ECOWAS countries in order to secure his 2nd term. But again, what do you expect when US, UK, Japan and likes have more investment stakes in Africa's developmental bank than the African countries themselves.

My deduction from from US call for independent probe is that US and Western stakeholders are profiling Akinwumi Adesina as a Nigerian from the prism of corruption.

Retaining Akinwumi Adesina as head of AfDB is a test for African Presidents to assert themselves. All eyes are on them.
