What's the main reason for the rejection.

How do you mean sir

The NJC recommended someone, that person is the most senior Judge from that state and is married to an indigene of the state. Yet, you are rejecting her because she's wasn't born in that state.

No problem. There are Cross River indigenes in the civil service of other states and in private employment. They would also merit positions and would be kicked out.

She has had a rough ride with the Governor.
The former State CJ, Edem was also frontal with the Governor, with regards to not been pushed around.
Ikpeme is close to him and does same too.

The little Emperor doesn't like his orders second-guessed, so he needs a stooge.

So the Maurice Eneji is from the present Gov's Zone....he prefers him, making the Gov, Attorney-General and State CJ (Eneji if confirmed) from the same Cross River North Zone.

They are painting her black but its more political than its ethnic.

She was born in Cross River State...had all her education...from nursery to University in Calabar.

Her dad was a retired Permanent Secretary in old Cross River State.

She married a Cross Riverian.

All her children were born in Cross River.

The NJC and especially CJN Tanko must compulsorily retire Eneji if he is confirmed.

This is simply abuse of power by the house of Assembly!!

The constitution requires that
1. NJC Recommends a nominee to the governor, in this case, Justice Akon Ikpeme
2. Governor forwards recommendation to House of Assembly
3. House of Assembly Confirms/Rejects the nominee

but here, House of Assembly is rejecting and also dictating who NJC should recommend in the person of Justice Maurice Eneji,!! the house is trying to usurp the powers of NJC... this should not be allowed to stand

If the house of assembly has the powers to reject a nominee, why can't the njc send another nominee instead? Infact, they should always recommend more than one person or the laws should be amended allowing them to appoint directly

Does it really matter if she was born there or not?
It’s like saying a Nigerian that was born outside this country can’t be appointed to a political post here.

Her mother is from cross river state, doesn’t that qualify her for the post?
This rejection is politically motivated and not because of ethnicity...

The problem is Tanko and not the NJC.

When Obisike Orji at the Abia State High Court was sworn in as CJ against the NJC directives under Aloma Mukhtar...a panel was set up, and this same Tanko was in that panel and recommended compulsory retirement for that Justice.

Now, he looked away when the HoA bypassed someone because she was Christian until she retired out.

Ayade is doing same thing knowing fully well that Akon will soon retire.

This same Tanko is looking the other way.

When will akon retire? Tanko is not the first to do this.under amechi, rivers judiciary shut down.it is not compulsory to always use force.the law said njc recommends not appoint.it is not by force for the legislature to confirm

Ikpeme is originally from Aks but married to an Cross River man. She is being denied her rightful position because of this.

Does that mean that a married woman should go back to her states civil service and work her way up?

We are still confused in our little grps.

Cross river and bad belle character.

There was a time i listened to paradise fm in cross river during the time the song Akwa ibom ayaya. The DJ was playing a mix tape. when it get to the time of the song they put a little jingle to skip the song.

But here we keep playing Peter Efiom song almost everyday.

Song that was in the 80s or so.
