Just a man after all...

Africa is a very sick continent...sub Saharan Africa is sicker
than most. Most sub Saharan African countries have vowed
never to allow knowledge-based governance but have
established constitutional criminal systems that support the
strong man but weaken the institutions! The result is a poverty stricken, miserable and disgraceful continent.
A few countries like Morocco, South Africa, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Ghana, Cape Verde, Mauritius, and Botswana are trying to break this jinx however by building institutions and playing down the strongman or men!
Pierre Nkurunziza, born and raised in Ngozi, Northern Burundi, was the son of a man who was governor of two regions in Burundi. He was elected president in 2005 by the electoral college of Burundi (the Parliament). He was considered a good man of unusual integrity and intellect. He was seen as the Messiah of Burundi! But he met a most disgraceful constitution that made a god of a president and ignored the sovereignty of the people...and exploited it to the fullest!

After his second tenure in 2015, he ensured constitutional
changes that gave him a 3rd Term and allowed him another
5years as president! The Burundians have been very bitter but dissent was repressed as hundreds of them were killed for protesting!

The great President Nkurunziza was seduced by the inordinate power provided by a most silly system. With an Executive Order, he even banned "jogging" as he saw it as an excuse for subversion. Yet, he was a graduate of Physical and Health Education! But he had a great passion for football...he became a footballer in 1969 at the age of 5...
A couple of years back while still a professional player in the
the Burundian Football League and playing for a club, there
was this match between his team and another. The referee, in fear of the president, had an atrocious officiating in favor of the president and his team. The opposing team would have none of it and played their hearts out... tackling the player- president on the pitch as a normal player. The president didn't like the fact that he wasn't treated like a god and those commoners battled with him for the ball.
After the match, several players of the opposing team were
arrested by the Burudian Security forces and charged with the crime of "Conspiracy against the President"! President Pierre Nkurunziza was born in December 1964; he
was a god as president...he died 2 days ago; 8th June 2020 at the age of 55yrs... just a man after all...

Burundi and the international community heaved a huge sigh
of relief! He's not a god after all but a most stupid man that
missed the opportunity to leave a legacy worthwhile!

Now, think about the despicable constitution of Nigeria, the
silly presidents and other foolish political officers under that
evil constitution that see selves as gods...and # thinkAgain.
Even if that evil document makes you a god now, you shall still die a man and occupy the same amount of real estate as the destitute...
The Nigerian State is a typical of Burundi...just bigger, more
stupid and definitely more insane!
"A king, in death, is just, but a man"!
