It could be true.

Remember that Edo is not Lagos.

In Lagos, you are allowed to test your popularity in a direct primary that involves all registered party members.

In Edo, you are disqualified from contesting a direct primary by the same party that previously qualified you to contest the party gubernatorial primary 4yrs ago.

In Lagos, the incumbent governor did not have the support of the State House of Assembly, so any attempt to defect to the opposition after losing his own party's primary, would have most likely resulted to an impeachment by the state legislature.

In Edo, the State House of Assembly has only 10 Legislators who were sworn in by the embattled Governor, and are loyal to him, while the remainder majority 14 Legislators were deliberately not sworn in by the undemocratic Governor. So any attempt to defect to the opposition party after his disqualification by his own party, does not pose any risk of impeachment by the loyal state legislature.

Certainly, Edo is not Lagos.

Well! his body Language has shown that he was no longer interested in APC since the beginning of the week

There was always a good chance that even if he had won the battle against Osiomole and got reelected on the platform of Apc, he would have deflected to PDP right after, coupled with the fact that PDP have spent a lot of time wooing him.

Regardless, the next election in Edo would be quite bloody as everyone would be trying to win or act as a spoiler.
