Some leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have listed fresh conditions for Ondo Deputy Governor Hon Agboola Ajayi before he is allowed to run the governorship race on the party’s platform.

Part of the conditions is for Agboola to agree to serve only one term and hand over to a core PDP loyalist.

They spoke as some aspirants, who have purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms, have vowed never to step down for Agboola.

Agboola and Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu have parted ways politically over the ambition of Agboola to contest against his boss.

A PDP chieftain, who pleaded anonymity, said Agboola is expected to formally announce his defection this week and would not resign as Deputy Governor.

The chieftain noted that the quest for automatic ticket by Agboola was being resisted by some aspirants.

Another member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke to select journalists in Akure, disclosed that Eyitayo Jegede is being positioned to be Agboola running mate.

According to him: “Honestly, we at the national level want the best for the party and that is what we have been working day and night to do as far as the Ondo State governorship election is concerned.

“We are on the verge of receiving the Deputy Governor into our party and he is no doubt, a big fish that will give the APC a good fight in the forthcoming election. One clear message we have been giving to all aspirants is that none of them will have anything to share in zero.

“So, initially when the Deputy Governor met some of us, he insisted that he was not desperate to be Governor but he just wanted the incumbent out. Our informal conclusion was that he could pair as running mate with our 2016 candidate, that is, Jegede and he had no objection to that.

“But from what we have seen on the ground in the last one week, the deputy governor seems to have a more formidable structure than Jegede and we have opened discussions on how Ajayi will be candidate while Jegede runs as his deputy with a caveat that Agboola will run for only one term and hand over to Jegede.

“We have been assessing their strengths, popularity and experience but the issue we have been confronted with is the fact that the deputy governor seems to have sealed another deal with some APC without our knowledge that after his victory at the poll, he would return to the APC.

“He is already discussing at top levels in this regard in order to have some leverage of security. But we are yet to confirm. So we are already talking to Jegede to cede the ticket to Ajayi by stepping down; he would then be picked as running mate to Ajayi”, he said.

But a PDP political pressure group, the Ondo Renaissance Movement (ORM) has accused the PDP NWC of being financially induced to cede the governorship ticket to Ondo South.

Co-ordinator of the group, Comrade Joshua Falade, said: “We are aware of the all behind the scene moves by the deputy Governor as he is trying all manner of things to get our party ticket.

The latest is that he took the sum of N200 million to bribe the NWC of our party to cede the ticket to the south and then pick him as candidate with Eyitayo Jegede as his deputy governorship candidate.

“This one will fail because those of us who suffered for the party since 2011 and even before then are not fools. If that happens, we shall mobilise our teaming supporters across the state to move to the APC and work for whoever is the candidate of the party.”

The conspiracy against Akeredolu is increasingly becoming obvious and it may easily sweep him away.

if Agboola Ajayi is chosen to contest against Akeredolu.

it's an easy ride for Akeredolu.

Eyitayo Jegede and Olusola Oke are the only one that can give Akeredolu a tough ride if either of them represents PDP.

It is more Easier for a Carmel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a Nigerian governor to run one term!

Impossible term. Not in Nigeria. A Nigeria politician can never agree to run one term only. If he agrees, he's just lying

Hmmmn. POLITICS. I'm tired.

Meanwhile, lemme cheap this vital info in

We were far more productive in 1980 than we are today

In 1980 the key metric are as follows:
1) we are a net exporter of refined petroleum products. Today we import all our refined petroleum products.

2) We ride in locally assembled cars, buses and trucks. Peugeot cars in Kaduna and Volkswagen cars in Lagos. Leyland in Ibadan and ANAMCO in Enugu produce our buses and trucks. Steyr at Bauchi producing our Agricultural tractors. And it is not just Assembly, we were producing many of the components. Vono products in Lagos producing the seats. Exide in Ibadan producing the batteries, not just for Nigeria but for the entire West Africa. Isoglass and TSG in Ibadan producing the windshields. Ferodo in Ibadan producing the brake pads and disc. Tyres produced by Dunlop in Lagos and Mitchellin in Portharcourt. And I mean tyres produced from rubber plantations located in Rivers State.

3) We were listening to Radio and watching television sets assembled in Ibadan by Sanyo.

4) We were using refrigerators, freezers and Airconditioners produced by Thermocool.

5) We were wearing clothes produced from the UNTL textile mills in Kaduna and Chellarams in Lagos. Not from imported cotton but from cotton grown in Nigeria.

6) Our water were running through pipes produced by Kwalipipe in Kano.

7) Our toilets were were fitted with WC produced at Kano and Abeokuta.

cool We were cooking with LPG gas stored inside gas cylinders produced at the NGC factory in Ibadan.

9) Our electricity was flowing through cables produced by the Nigerian wire and Cable, Ibadan and Kablemetal in Lagos and Portharcourt.

10) We had Bata and Lennards producing the shoes we were wearing. Not from imported leathers but from locally tanned leather at Kaduna.

11) We were mainly flying our airways, the Nigeria Airways, to most places in the world. The Airways was about the biggest in Africa at that time.

12) Most of the food we eat were being grown or produced in Nigeria.

We were producing all of the above and more in 1980
Today, we import almost everything.

There lies the source of the terrible exchange rate we are experiencing today and everybody on this platform has a critical role to play in reversing the ugly trend.

It is not enough for us to complain about the exchange rate or bring out what others are not doing or are failing to do, the key question is what are you producing or what are you planning to produce?
