Gariki Pedestrian Bridge Snap: Contractor Takes Full Responsibility, Apologizes by OEPHIUS(m): 4:50am On Jun 17, 2020
Consequent upon the recent concrete-form snap of the Pedestrian Bridge, at Gariki, Amaechi Awkunanaw, in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State, which is under construction, the contractor handling the project, Barkindo Nigeria Ltd, has taken “absolute responsibility” for the unfortunate incident.

In a letter addressed to the Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, dated June 15, 2020 and signed by the Director of Projects, Chidiebere Mbachu, the contractor tendered “our unreserved apology to the people and government of Enugu State”.

Describing the incident as “very unfortunate”, the contractor who noted that “no casualty was recorded”, stated that “the snap of the formwork took us by surprise”

“We have been responsive and maintained standard operational practice, especially during concreting, in line with the standard guidelines and specifications of Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

“While reassuring you of our commitment towards completing the project as designed, we have put in place measures to mitigate any such occurrence in future.

“We will resume work accordingly as soon as we receive approval from Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the contractor said.

Enugu State is in the hands of God! ##

I'm not surprised. Enugu State governor and substandard projects are like 5&6.

Go and check the roads he painted constructed. Many of them are no longer motorable. I saw one yesterday and almost cried.

Non Enugu residents will be singing his praise on social.

In the first place, there's no need of pedestrian bridge in Gariki Enugu. Those that live there can attest to it.

Thieving fat GOVERnor

You are saying the 2nd Niger bridge is a scam but the other day, your fathers were crying that they were not allowed to be working as manual labourers and carrying headpans on the site.

Next time, all of you in your family should sit down and decide on the same line of wailing so that your stupidity won't be conflicting.

Gariki is Hausa word. Garki!

Awkunanaw is Wawa Ibo, cannibalist history like Abiriba, Arochuku and Ohafia.

Barkindo is Fulani name.

No wonder the gaddem bridge snapped!
