The oxford dictionary defines Lobbying as any attempt by individuals or private interest groups to influence the decisions of government.
Except we want to be hypocrites, there is no one of us that have not lobbied before. As humans we lobby in business to gain advantage and to will contracts. Let's be careful to note that lobby is different from bribery. Lobby is recognized by the constitution and it is not a crime to lobby. In fact is is a fundamental human right to lobby. Lobbying in some form is inevitable in any political system and it is done all over the word.
In the build up to an election, most persons who are contesting for office do not have the funds or connection to achieve their aim, hence the aspirants form campaign organizations by which they solicit for funds, connection and other form of assistance that will aid their victory in a legal way.

Quite recently, both the APC and PDP announced the price of their governorship nomination form at 22.5 million and 21 million naira respectively. The question is, how can an individual spend so much for just a party form? What about the campaign it self?

Now we can clearly see why it is difficult for a youth in his 30s to seek such office except they have strong financial back up. Financial donations are therefore very important in electioneering campaign. However, like the saying goes 'there is no free lunch in Freetown'.

While aspirants are going about soliciting for funds and other assistance through their campaign organizations, they will encounter people who will freely donate money and render them assistance because they have read their manifestos and believe in their agenda.

In most cases, these free givers only makes up 10% of campaign donations while the remaining 90% donations and assistance comes from individuals best referred to as LOBBYISTS.

After reading your manifesto, lobbyist looks for how they will benefit from your government if elected before they donate or render you any assistance. In most cases, they make sure they have written or oral agreement with you in front of credible witness.
This is the plight of tony kabaka that Edo people must understand. Kabaka as a lobbyist worked for Adams oshiomole in all his electioneering campaign and when oshiomole won he rewarded him with a contract to collect daily taxes.
Kabaka was under contract with the government of Adams Oshiomole to help collect daily taxes also known as tickets from motorists and bike riders in the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo state. Kabaka did this efficienly through his company 'Akugbe Ventures' throughout the tenure of Adams Oshiomole.
In the build up to the 2016 elections in Edo state, Kabaka as a lobbyist was in support of another aspirant but oshiomole convinced him to support his anointed candidate Godwin obaseki with the promise from both of them that he will renew kabaka's ticket collection contract.
However, this was not the case, when obaseki eventually won with the full support of kabaka and other party members, he cancelled his ticket collection contract and said he will be using technology to collect tickets henceforth and not manually.

This to me is a betrayal! Not just a betrayal of trust but a betrayal of agreement. Akugbe ventures had branches all over Edo state with approximately 1000 youths employed in the company. Now all those youths have been jobless for 4 years now. How do you think kabaka should feel?
Even if the Governor does not want them to collect tickets again, can't he compensate them in another way?
For those people calling kabaka a thief, the questions is what did he steal from you or the government? Did he not fufil the tax remittance agreement he had with oshiomole? Did oshiomole ever complained that they did not remitt complete tax?
All I see in those insulting kabaka is jelosy. Such people don't know anything about political investment and the game of lobby which is lawful.
Edo is wiser now and we are all ready to support the man of the people Pastor Osagie IZE IYAMU.

This write-up is nonsense and a glorification of thuggery.
Kabaka should go and seek a legitimate way of making money.

Anytime they start writing annoyingly long Epistles, just know they are about typing in the nonsense.

Kabaka is a well known thief. He came out to say he rigged the election that brought in obaseki. He said he stole ballot boxes and did all manner of things. Is that one not a criminal? A tout that celebrated 1billion naira yet, Edo state is broke. The state is indebted. Are you not tired of agbero politics.

We've passed those era of agberoism. We are the enlightened race.

This is stupidity trying to sell an agbero as a legitimate business man and lobbyists. In Lagosyyou have MC Oluomo. If this is replicated throughout Nigeria there will be mayhem. Tony Kabaka is a thug, that aspect of politics should be condemned by all well meaning Edolites.

They should not use technology or they should just allow agbero Kabaka to run amok.

You are the problem of this country. How dare you make an attempt to justify the deeds of kabaka. A man that collects over 70million naira as monthly revenues from hardworking citizens and remits just 2.5 million naira to the state government. A man that celebrated 1 billion naira in Dubai but has no office address or a paid job. Today Edo State government generates over 100 million naira as monthly revenue from Oredo local government. It's a pity.

Before 2016, our monthly IGR was 306 million naira. Now, it is over 2 billion naira monthly.

So, your principal, Kabaka, colluded with Oshiomhole to steal Edo money. They never considered the real owners of the money in their skimming.

It is very demeaning that a clear case of robbery has been labelled as lobbying by you. You don't have any conscience and humanity left in you. You can even give your head as long as the right price is paid.

I have just a word for you. You and your principal will meet your waterloo.

Pa. Ehinmen is a writer, a Nairalander, and a member of pastor Osagie ize-iyamu youth movement from Edo State.
From the beginning of your article, I know you were paid to do this useless write-up. I'm from Edo State and I had interactions with several Tony Kabaka boys. I know what played out during his reign of ticketing. Before I enumerate what happened, I want to ask you, how much were Tony Kabaka remitting to the government? Where did he got the #1B he celebrated sometime ago? You that is doing this write-up that's full of errors, can you boost of #10m in your account?
Let me enumerate what happened
1) During his reign, his boys were like terrors in Edo State, they rain insults on people, molest and beat up drivers, hawkers, market women and men including old and young because they never care.
2) Tony Kabaka was now like the governor of the state, nobody talks to him. He can do and undo. Have seen him severally blocking major roads in benin city, nobody dare near him nor ask him to leave the road.
3) Some of his boys were taking home #300k, #250k, 150k, 100k, 70 or 75k, 50k and the least was #20k daily depending on your rank. His boys were all ranked. Tony Kabaka made a law that all his members must be coming to his hotel to spend part of the money (spend it on prostitutes and drinks). Each members are made to spend a pre-determined amount depending on what each earn. There was a list of all his boys in the hotel recording the amount spent. When he did his wedding, he asked all the members to contribute #20k each to him to support his wedding and the cloth material he sold was #20k. Failure to follow the rules, you will be sack.
These are the few points I can touch now, if I lie, op, come out to say it.
From your writeup, you expect Obaseki not to agree to them initially? He has to agree because he knows what he want.
Mark it, Edoites are wise, we hate godfatherism. This was the secret Oshiomole used to deceived Edoites. He knew we don't support godfathers and that is why he used it to deceived us to gain power. Now, we are ready to tell him that Abuja or security forces can't stop our vote. Edoites will decide who will govern.
Political revolution is starting from Edo State, it will spread to other states in no distance time.
Thank you.

I weep when i see articles lyk dis.. very shameful. Kabaka and his boys rained terror on we the edolites, his boys will beat up anyone dat fails to pay his/her ticket money and they collect it in a disorganised manner, one would wonder if the money will even get to the state gov, kabaka amassed wealth with people's tax he even celebrated the fact dat he became a billionaire under the guise of tax collecting to the admiration of oshiomole and party members, obaseki will remain a blessing to we the edolites for puting a stop to the menance of thugs becoming billionaires and amassing wealth buillding hotels all over benin, consituting nuisance harrasing the old and young all in the name of collecting ticket.

Pa. Ehinmen, I just have a question for you.

If Kabaka was collecting all the tax and remitting it to the government, then what's the problem

Was Oshiomole not paying him for those services through out those years How many times will he be paid

What's Obaseki crime in wanting to use technology to collect tax

It's people like you that does not want Nigeria to work!

The only thing constant in life is CHANGE, from your submission, it's clear that Obaseki genuinely wants to work for the people!

I rest my case.
