Why are Northerners scared of restructuring of this country?  Is that really hard to know? They control all arms of national govt. Restructuring means weakening FG and central apparatus that they control. Even the very few progressive Northerners know restructuring will benefit all long term. But they also know it is very unpopular in the North. So they shy away from it. Atiku openly espouses it but even he knows that his people up North won't allow it. Moreover who introduced modern day insecurity into Nigeria? Is it not the same OBJ.
Boko haram started in his tenure when he was president. They started with ordinary sticks and small fire arms, he couldn't nipped them in the bud but allow them to escalate to unimaginable proportions .
Niger delta militancy started in OBJ tenure together with kidnapping etc, until the coming of late president Musa Yaradua who negotiated the Amnesty deal and enduring peace in the region...

They control all arms of national govt. Restructuring means weakening FG and central apparatus that they control. Even the very few progressive Northerners know restructuring will benefit all long term. But they also know it is very unpopular in the North. So they shy away from it.
Atiku openly espouses it but even he knows that his people up North won't allow it.
For them it is part of Ahmadu Bello's policy to control Nigeria and control the destiny of the Southerners. A religious duty in fact following Othman Dan Fodio. Bello made no secret about this strategy. The bolded is one of the reasons so no doubt u are point. |

The PDP is only asking for restructuring now because they’re no longer beneficiaries of the power at the center, they had 16yrs to do just that. Not to mention an Oputa Panel report and a confab report that have been accumulating dust in their archives.
Doesn’t mean they’re wrong though! Yes they abused the opportunity they had to make the country right, but if Nigerians will be truthful to themselves, they were more than a sight better than the party currently in power. Forget all d hype, political parties are not corrupt in Nigeria, politicians in Nigeria are.
If by a fluke now this present SDP should win the center in 2023, these same politicians will massively migrate there and continue with their unimaginable looting while the dumb masses will continue to fight and abuse each other with shady proofs provided by even dumber analysts that talk from both sides of their mouths. |
