Nigerian Youths, We Are Running Of Time... by Ayo8(m): 6:19am On Jun 28, 2020
I fear for the future of many Nigerian youths... many will clock 50years of age without any substantial savings or investment to sustain them in the later years of their lives... Our parents had govt jobs (federal/state/local) to live on till the retirement age of 60years and thereafter got gratuities and pensions to survive on... some joined the private sectors, built a career for themselves and became corporate heads...Sadly these options are not available to the average present day youth as govt jobs are being reserved exclusively for those in the political class.
Our school curriculum hasn't change either from what was taught during the days of our parents... our lecturers are still the same non innovative minded people, nothing is being done to promote innovation and inventions.
And for a few with some innovative ideas, Nigerian banks are not helping situations either. GTB loan for example is only open to their current account holders with regular income, they dont care about your age long savings history with them yet they advertise the loans like it's open to all...Access Bank have theirs too and so does every other Nigerian bank. It appears they prefer to be fined by the CBN under the new CBN directive than to give out loans to SME's or intending SME's...Their jobs on the other hand offers no job security as they prefer to employ majority of their staffs on contracts basis for naira equivalent of a paltry $200 per month. Other firms won't offer more than $150 and Our govt have turned blind eyes while a time bomb ticks...
In 15years oil and gas will begin to phase out because the world is going green. I wonder what will become of an economy that depends heavily on income from oil and gas, our banks that pride themselves amongst the biggest in Africa, I wonder what will become of the Nigerian people.
The year 2000 seems like yesterday. We are running out of time

You are still living under the roof of your dad. You don't know what average Nigerian youths are going through on a daily basis.
