Importation and Marketing Firm looking for funding/Investors

A friend of mine wants to come back to Nigeria to establish a Importation and marketing company that would be importing goods to Nigeria, handling the logistics and marketing of those goods to wholesalers. They will be dealing with clients from different industry as they don't intent to just import goods but meet all the needs of their clients.

The company will also be developing marketing strategy, marketing exposure, supply chain management and distribution channels for corporate entities. The company is seeking N8 million funding/loan to add to their start up capital. The company will not touch or used the said money until the imported goods have arrived in Nigeria as its would be using LC for its trading.

Any interested person, investor or someone with contact at banks and any financier should send their post here. My friend will be visiting Nigeria this February for meetings.

This is wonderful news indeed. All the best to them. This is how it should be, a government for the people by the people and they have spoken. Much kudos to the North for accepting it, even though much of their revenue is in the South. Back to Nigeria, it amazes me how our plight is compared to that of Sudan. Their issue was more a difference in religion etc. Ours I'm sorry to say is more complex than that. I agree there are times when I feel there is a cultural difference bw the North and South, but in all honesty, I believe we have bridge that gap to a very large extent. A example of this is GEJ recent PDP nomination, winning key North states. Now fellow Nigerian ask yourselves and lets be honest, something we all have a problem being, would the situation really change? Really. So if there was a split the kidnappings in the S.E. would stop? That infrastructure would improve? That there would be no issues with christians in the North and vice versa? And most importantly POLITICIANS WOULD NOT RANSOME OUR WEALTH AND THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN AWAY, REALLY R U SO NAIVE TO BELIEVE THIS. My fellow Nigerians the biggest issue we have is governance and leadership. One that abides by the laws and respects all Nigerians in the assurance of a better future. Have a look at the House of Rep or Senate, aren't they representing ALL regions and religions and yet they as a bunch have seen to be corrupt. What about the bank crisis, weren't all regions and religions involved. Come on my brothers and sisters this North South thing is a smoke screen so we don't see the truth. The real division is not Christian and Muslim, North or South its the have and have nots. To be fellow christians may you remain blessed to my muslim brothers and sisters I say salum alekum.

there's a bit of misinformation in this piece - they have agreed to seceede but it's not going to happen till july - anything could happen before then. google south sudan and you won't find anythin to show it has happened yet - the piece below should inform better

It is official: South Sudan to secede

afrol News, 31 January - The people of South Sudan have spoken. Over 99 percent of voters opted for secession, according to the first official, preliminary results. South Sudan will formally become independent on 9 July 2011.

Releasing preliminary official results today in Juba, the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission (SSRC) confirmed what observers had expected - that voters overwhelmingly endorsed the secession of Sudan's ten southern states from the rest of the country.

An impressive 99.57 percent of the 3.72 million ballots cast in South Sudan supported separation, according to Commission's spokesman Justice Chan Reec Madut. According to the results published by the Commission, the lowest vote in favour of secession was registered in the state of Bahr al-Ghazal, bordering the North, with a still impressive 95.5 percent in support.

Secession had garnered the same percentage of support among the 58,200 South Sudanese who voted overseas, while 57 percent of voters registered in the country's 15 northern states backed the separation option.

Salva Kiir Mayardit, who will be the first President of an independent South Sudan, participated at the Juba announcement yesterday. "Congratulations to all of you, we are very happy," President Kiir told the thousands who had gathered in central Juba.

"We still have a long way forward, and I would like you to be peaceful towards everybody and towards your brothers in the north," Mr Kiir told the spectators.

The announcement of the referendum results came 15 days after balloting ended. Confirmation of voting results triggered a loud outpouring of applause, laughter and ul

ulating, with some members of the crowd waving towels and South Sudan flags to hail the outcome.

Referendum Commission Chairman Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil at the Juba event acknowledged the millions of voters who "spent hours and hours patiently, decently, courteously waiting in long queues in order to exercise their right of registration and, later, of polling."

Mr Khalil added that the successful implementation of this month's referendum should foster hope that northern and southern leaders can settle their unresolved disputes and agree on post-referendum arrangements in the remaining six months before South Sudan formally becomes independent on 9 July this year.

When President Kiir finished his address, hundreds of South Sudanese converged on the dirt field opposite the speakers' dais to chant "Independence, oh yes!" and dance to the rhythms of "Motherland Sudan", "I love Juba, I'm from Juba and Juba is my Nation" and other popular nation-building songs.

According to the UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), "the complete preliminary results of the seven-day voting will be announced again in Khartoum on 2 February. If no legal objections are filed against those figures, the outcome will be ratified as final on 7 February. If legal proceedings are initiated, the SSRC is required by law to issue a final official result no later than 14 February."

ented on the results, but last week pledged to support the new state of South Sudan after its probable independence. His statement came after early results had indicated pro-secession votes would reach around 99 percent.

President al-Bashir acknowledged that "secession has become a reality," as "99 percent of southerners chose separation." The North would however "not be sad," he added, saying "we will go to the south and celebrate with them."

Despite the good cooperation currently experienced between Presidents al-Bashir and Kiir - the two this weekend jointly African Union summit in Addis Ababa - serious conflict issues remain between the North and the South. Most pressing conflicts include the future of Abeyei state, which yet has to hold a referendum, and the key to sharing oil revenues.

Note: Based on this historic vote of the South Sudanese people, afrol News today "officially recognised" South Sudan as a new African state. Country and news pages for South Sudan are now online, which you may want to bookmark. Starting now, you can also receive South Sudan news alerts (free, see below).

Dear people of Biafra, with respect to the aforementioned, we stand in no ones way of folly and evil; we will not accept that anyone should stand in the way of our getting into Biafra. Anyone attempting to stop us will be ostracized, actively ignored, discounted and side-stepped, relegated to a nonentity status Above all, there is the issue of security. Our lives and property in Nigeria are not secured. Our people are not safe in Northern Nigeria. When there is a publication considered offensive in Denmark, it is Ndi-Igbo that are attacked in the north even when there is no problem in Denmark. That is very important to us as a people and it is unacceptable to us as an organisation,

The Provisional Biafran Government has been effectively set up. It is the duty of all Biafrans to stand up for their freedom. Launch a relentless non-violent protest throughout Biafra to the local, State and Federal "representatives" in Biafraland to now make Biafra's Freedom a first and urgent priority. Biafrans must record events and demand a prompt, civil and legislative process towards attaining the goal of Freedom.

PBundles, you're actually a funny guy, but I have read a lot of posts from guys that try to dismiss Nigerian issues poetically. The truth is that my first option has always been to argue about the need to fix the State so we can fix the problem.

However because it is obvious to me now that it cannot be achieved because of religious intolerance and atrocities such as the butchering babies and political anomolies such as the existence of a clustester of Sharia adopting States within a Secular State; it is time to conside an alternative option which I call 'Option B', splitting the polity. I am convinced that when the polity is split the State can be restructured to the point of being more effective. All the points you have mentioned can be checked with appropriate measures placed in the system.

This issue has been debated extensively on NL, but lest I continue, can you name me One country or Nation State in the world where  there is the existence of a clustester of Sharia adopting States within a Secular State?

Because I can't wait for your reply to my last posted question, here is coherent and comprehensive solution below:

Comprehensive detailed Solution

The ideal solution (which assumes that we are in control of the situation), is to employ different approaches to attaining
'True Federalism' within the borders of Nigeria, the State as it currently exists, where total control is relinquished to
the invidual States on financial, indigenous, mineral resource issues amongst others (loads of detail which can be debated to be discussed here).

The State itself would have to be restructured too with regards to constitutional principles, 'Separation of Powers' with a strong and
independent 'Judiciary' and completely based on the 'rule of law' and guaranteed transparency entrenched by law (Freedom of Information Act);
Independent and entrenched Taxation body with published figures

The problem we have at the moment is that the Majority of Nigerians have completely lost confidence in the apparatus of the State.
This single fact is counter-productive and killing the 'Stake Holding' relationship between the State and her citizens and cannot be simply
argued away by those in favour of 'inaction' or the 'status quo'.

In addition, the economy has to be restructured. We inherited from our colonial vampires a system where we were only allowed to
export raw materials and not refined or manufactured products, (check out the history of the World Trade Agreement), this was the policy
throughout the Empire, and the policy has just been reversed recently under the Obama US Administration. Furthermore, we have a system
where the FG at the centre controls all resources and mineral rights in individual states, and the main focus or emphasis is based on
"Distribution" as opposed to "Production", the distribution of the receipts of mineral or resource sales to all the individual States.
This encourages apathy, greed and lazyness. If the FG were to serve the role as a massive Welfare state, some of the payments should go
directly to individual citizens to alleviate poverty and not to pot-bellied politicians. I do not believe in freebies,
the emphasis should be changed to that of "Production", that's the only way that we can create wealth in the country, a surplus thus
taking advantage of our massive population. A massive population by the way is only advantageous if they are productive.

What methods should we employ in order to implement such Political and Economic structural change in the polity??

Organize, collaborate and cooperate, grassroots action, for the purpose of starting a 'Petition', collect signatures all over Nigeria,
(particualrly Southern Nigeria) and the diaspora by using the internet, digital media and other methods, this can be used to embarass
the Government internally, abroad amongst the Western Media (because its time to use them). In relation to Jos and the implication
of "State sponsored murders", we would be able to use such a petition to take action against or sue the FG at the International Court of Justice,
Hague for the dereliction of duties to her citizens regarding guaranteeing human rights and property.

We would lobby all the Super Powers,
and present it to the UN, which would eventually pave the way for a "UN sponsored referendum" regarding the secession of
Southern Nigeria (OPTION B).

(OPTION B).

If structural changes mentioned above cannot be achieved because our Northern Countrymen block this (after all it would force them to
make their citizens productive), then we would have to push the UN to conduct a "UN sponsored referendum"
regarding the secession of Southern Nigeria (OPTION B). The formation of Southern Nigeria would be a lot more successful if we
enshrined all of the principles mentioned above under a 'Secular Constitution').

Most importantly, the formation of 'Southern Nigeria' (could be called something else) would receive the backing of all the
'Major World Powers', whilst China would sit on the fence.

Once again, tribalism is for primitive minds, there are no major differences in our DNA.

I think a  lot of us makes the assumption that if Naija splits life will be better, for me i do not think the solution is in dividing the country. how well has the states and the local govt being managed by our kinsmen done? to me it doesn't suggest things are these bads because of the diverse tribes. we have a common enemy these are people who sees the treasury as their personal estates. we have all these people in all the tribes.

The kind of hope and ethusiasm shared by these southern Sudanese reminds me of how our parents where filled with hope to a better Nigeria, with joy, dance and cymbals they sent the colonialist parking, looking forward to a Nigeria where justice, equity and fairness will prevail. 50 years after it still seemed a mirrage.

Even if we are to divide the country into the number of local govt as separate countries a few will still use the states funds for their selfish goals.

You need to Fix the Secular State first, make it more effective, make sure all States are subject to the same rules before you can fix those problems
that you have discerned. Give the State teeth. If you want to stop the looting, then Fix the State.

Those problems cannot be fixed if you have One Cluster of States within a Nation State trying to UNDERMINE it because they believe it is decadent.
Make sure all local States in the Nation State are subject to the same laws; are on the same page.

It is the inconsitency of laws, different laws for different types of people that is the problem.

As much as i agreed with you for the need to have uniform laws, but what has happened to other parts of the country where they do not practice sharia, how many have done better or proven themselves.

The people are not empowered because they know if they know their right from their left they will demand whats is due them.

Absolutely right . Dividing the country is not the solution. It is true democracy that is the answer. If given the right opportunity the people have the capacity to elect leaders that would create change and grow the economy, They may make mistakes iniitially but with time know who best serve their interests,   A good example is Edo state who voted for Igbenidion who turned out to be corrupt and inept. They had been able to make the cnage to Oshiomolie who is currently doing a good job.

But in most states of the country and especially at the Federal level in  Nigeria because of greed and corruption, true democracy is not allowed, and this dminshes the hope for good future for the country
