Following his prolong stay from office, the Abia state governor Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on Tuesday evening made a surprise return to the State, ABN TV reports.

The Governor who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 was in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu announced to have tested negative after a successful treatment.

ABN TV gathered that the Governor upon arrival in Umuobiakwa his Obingwa local government hometown headed for a thanksgiving at Seventh Day Adventist Church in the community in the company of his wife.

Ikpeazu who had transmitted a letter to the State House of Assembly, notifying them of his ill health is expected to communicate to the lawmakers of his return.

ABN TV had reported that during his absence, the Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu stepped in as Governor on acting capacity.

It is however not clear when the governor will resume back his duty.
