THE DANGEROUS SILENCE IN A THREATENING STATE OF AFFAIRS

The vast number of stalwart acolytes of my articles will, by now, be apprised of my uncompromising cracks to changing the hideous political shenanigans wrapped around the country.

Following the recent shameful public display of dog-eat-dog rancour among the Nigerian leaders tossed on corruption cases and allegations in the country, one must sanguinely infer that Nigeria is in big mess and her future is quivering.

The rate of corruption and the way the country's public fund is being looted and re-looted by those who swore an oath to judiciously manage every resources at their disposal is alarming. Corruption and mismanagement of national treasure has been a thing well known and attached to all administrations that have ruled the country, but in this present case, the situation is highly disappointing as such is unexpected of an administration that rose to the seat of power on the basis of assuring the masses of fighting corruption and cleansing all the dirts perpetrated by the past administrations.

Indeed, a well known devil is better than a strange angel. The masses were convinced to believing in them as baptized change makers, little did we know that they are just chameleons of the same flesh in different colors.

Majority of Nigerian masses are punishably dwelling in abject poverty due to the nonchallant political attitude, cruelty, corruption, greediness, lack of fear and most importantly the silence of the masses against all these.

As a reverse to the most recent popular phrase; we may not need to calm down to put an end to these unjust predicaments we never bargained for.

Thanks to the advantages of social media and other news outlets which have made it possible for more Nigerians to be updated with the happenings in the country.

Recall that Nigerians now pay #50 stamp duty on electronic receipts, 6% on tenancy and lease agreements among many other existing taxes designed internally to milk Nigerians dry who work hardly and smartly to make ends meet. Of course, the reasons were purported to focus on revenue generation to ensure development in the country but of what use are exploitative policies with no significant development to directly benefit the taxpayers and the young ones?

As an aside, as part of the different diableries ravaging the country as a result of leadership complications which has further compounded the setbacks faced by the nation is the issue of sharing formula in job opportunities meant for the masses among politicians.

Perfect examples of such are 774,000 jobs and N-power job opportunity slots purportedly shared by the power that be in the executive and legislative arms of government.

It is highly shocking how billions of naira approved for developmental projects have been siphoned and diverted for personal use by those whom we have entrusted our collective treasure with.

The aforementioned issues are very few of the many problems parading the country ranging from increasing rate of insecurity, unemployment, high rate of corruption, nepotism, dwindling economy, bad roads, banditry, among various ones caused solely by bad leadership.

Against all these troubles, directly faced by the masses, it is high time we voice out our plights strategically, smartly, proactively and actively.

2023 is far approaching and every politician in Nigeria is scheming a perfect plan for continued rule in government. They are making agreements, aligning and pooling resources together primarily to remain relevant and to secure power come 2023 basically to continue having control over the national resources. The masses interests are not definitely part of the economic plan but how to get the masses supports to actualizing their main plan is patently part of the political schemes.

Continued silence in a situation that is not conforming to our interests is a threat to our future and generations yet unborn. We need to start, on our own part as domestic actors, plan on how to set new frontiers in government across all boards.

We need to get informed, get involved, be sensitized and be determined and purposive in our collective course of making this country a masses friendly one.

We need to sensitize every member of our family, friends, religious organizations, schools, associations and others about the need to get involved in transforming the country come 2023.

The power to change the ill-favoured situation we are currently in lies solely on us and we need to do the needful to get it actualized. Towards a better country, against all party affiliations, personal interests, self-centeredness, and the likes, let's push ourselves into actions proactively for in a greater country, your benefits are even more greater.
