THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, arrested the former Minister of Works, Dr Hassan Adamu, over an alleged N50 billion scam. Dr Adamu was a minister in the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s administration.

The spokesman of the commission, Mr Femi Baba-femi, confirmed the arrest.

Adamu also served as Minister of Labour and Productivity in the former President Olusegun Oba-sanjo-led administration.

A source revealed that he had also been quizzed for several hours since he was taken in.

The source added that operatives of the commission went after him, following his alleged indictment in “high degrees of massive fraud, abuse of office, abuse of government laid down policy on due process and award of contracts to unregistered companies running into over N50 billion.”

It was further learnt that while Adamu would remain in custody, a manhunt had been launched to arrest his cronies who were also allegedly indicted in the alleged scam.
