It may be true that there is no perfect way to parenting, but Psychologist Diana Baumrind and others has been able to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each parenting style to enable us know which is best for our children.

Before I delve into explaining each parenting style, I want you to know that whatever, however and whoever your child turns out to be in adulthood depends largely on you as a parent and how you raised him or her during those first few years of his or her life, starting from birth -5 years as research has proved that a child’s character forms during this period. Now what are the 4 basic parenting styles?

The Four Parenting Styles Outlined.
Parenting styles simply means the various ways or methods parents employ to raise their children. They are described below:

The Uninvolved Parenting Style
In this parenting style, children are neglected and left to make decisions on their own. Parents simply don’t care about the well-being of the child as totally autonomy is granted to the child to make choices since parents expect the child to bear responsibility for his choices which is the total opposite of parenting. This style is 0% discipline and 0% love.

The Permissive Parenting Style
Here, there are no rules or demands or expectation as children are allowed to have anything they desire even if their choice can endanger or destroy them. Children are not corrected because parents who choose this kind of parenting style keep making excuses for their child such as, he is just a child, he just woke up as he’s not always like this, etc.

Parents in this category gives their children 100% love and 0% discipline. The truth is this is not a good way to raise a child into a well rounded adult, even if you have just one child, You must strive to correct the child when he’s wrong and then draw him close again without failing to explain to him the reason for been disciplined. By doing this, you teach your child right from wrong and the ability to make good judgement.. For more https://annomale.com/what-is-the-best-parenting-style-to-raise-kids/
