5 sons + 3 sisters (3 sisters are same sisters to all the 5 sons) + 1x3(3 sisters have one baby each)
= 5 + 3 + 3 = 11

Using your logic, 11 + Plus the couple = 13 people.

But then, only the couple went for the picnic.

So its only 2 people.

Since just a couple was mentioned, it means one family was involved and 5 sons can't have 3 sisters each...it's one family so each of the 5 sons is the sibling of the 3 sisters and the baby. Plus their dad and mum, making 11 altogether
