A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted an ex-parte motion for substituted service on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the September 19 governorship election in Edo State.

A Chieftain of the APC, Barr. Charles Ude had dragged his party and its gubernatorial candidate before the court in a suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/839/2020. Ude is seeking the disqualification of Mr. Ize-Iyamu as the candidate of the APC in the Edo election. He maintains that the party did not conduct a legally recognised primaries to choose its candidate.

During the commencement of hearing, neither the APC nor its candidate made an appearance. This prompted the plaintiff to file for an ex-parte to serve the defendants through substituted means, a prayer which Justice Taiwo Taiwo granted.

The hearing of the matter is billed for September 1, during which the court is expected to give a ruling on the disqualification suit.

The defendants in the suit include the APC, Mr Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Adams Oshiomhole, Victor Giadom and Hillard Etta.

If it's postponed a week to the election it will help reduce the tension. The broadcasting channels should begin to block the news coming from both sides. The two sides are obviously at each others throat. I eagerly wait to see the outcome of the election. Today this one is going to be turbaned. The next day the other does the same thing. The one too runs to presidency to declare his innocency everywhere is read before the D-day. I feel sorry for Edo lites in advance

It is a Guber election, the most profitable business in Nigeria today.
Tension is expected.

With the background of events, it is a fight-to-finish, a no retreat no surrender situation. It is a fight for political survival, a do-and-die situation.

Take it to one year, nothing will change. Let the authorities just do their jobs dispassionately.
