Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) this morning announced that it has increased the price of electricity to its costumers.

It, however, did not disclose how much customers will henceforth pay per unit.

In a text message sent to customers at shortly after midnight of September 1, AEDC said “Dear Customer, to serve you better, please be informed that from Tuesday, 1st September 2020, a new tariff called the Service Reflective Tariff, which comes with an adjustment in tariff based on hours of supply, will be implemented.

“We pledge our commitment to improving service to our esteemed customers.”

NERC explained that where there is a failure to deliver a committed service level over the evaluated period of 60 days, the rates payable by customers should be retroactively adjusted in line with quality of service delivered over the same period of time.

This is what we were searching for in the news, as we have been advocating for a long time now.

We will pay for only what we use.
This is the same way it is done in saner climes.

A better Nigeria is all we want.
A better Nigeria is what we shall get.
Slow and steady we will get there as a nation.

ggirl4real:
Provide the electricity first, Nigerians are willing to pay.

We can't continue paying for darkness.

Stop estimated billings.

Provide pre-paid meters to all households in Nigeria at subsidized rates.
This is a very sensible comment from a true Nigerian.
A lady that wants the best for her country and citizens.
Not like comments of those that hatred for their country has turned them to something else.

We gave you your first like G Girl! kiss

A better Nigeria is all we want.

For we wey dey get more than 20 hours of light we no go mind at all.

You'd love this if you understood it and really prepared for a better electricity.

In my side, we rarely get light for up to 3hrs daily, does this means we won't be paying?

don't say that. those guys have more power to supply. The issue is that customers shl be metered.
At d end, you wl pay for what you never used ...
Imagine, asking someone in Ikorodu who barely stays at home to pay for the 14 hrs they supplied

America, EU, world Bank, UN please come and Rescue Nigerians o, govt have continued to be insensitive to the plight of the citizens.

Ever since 2010 salaries have remained static, while the price of goods and services have trippled! This is inhumane.

That's what it means and should push the discos to perform better by providing their customers with more hours of electricity to earn their pays.

You lack sense. You and your fellows are the ones who are supposed to be answering that question. Did Buhari privatise power sector? Or, your tiny brain failed to tell you that when you encouraged Jonathan to sell power sector, you were encouraging FG to sell her right? You never heard the phrase "you can't eat your cake and have it"?
