…Betsy Obaseki educate women on how to prevent void vote

Several Women groups have been visiting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Wing Campaign Office in Benin City to pledge their votes for Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The campaign Office has become a beehive of activities ahead of the September 19 Gubernatorial election as over 500 hundred women armed with their Permanent Voters Card pledging their votes for PDP Candidate Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The event also saw some decampees from the opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC) pledging their support, commitment and dedication to the party ensuring that it comes out victorious in the September 19 Governorship election.

Members of Oredo Ward 6 women Forum led by Mrs. Joyce Giegbefuwen armed with their voters card said “we want to join Godwin Obaseki as a forum to support him with our voters card”

The leader of the Head Dressers union Mrs. Grace Agbokihon said “we saw the good work Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu are doing, we liked it and we said we want to join them. We want to leave APC and join PDP. We can not be outside and be mere onlookers. We want to be part of the train and that’s why we have come today to join PDP to move the work forward.

Some APC Women from Oredo led by Mrs. Mabel Egegba and Arewa women of the APC extraction also displayed their support for the PDP by setting their brooms ablaze.

“We see the good work Godwin Obaseki is doing for us and Oshiomhole said Ize Iyamu is a thief before, now he is telling us to vote for him. We say no. We want to vote for Governor Godwin Obaseki who is doing a good work for us, so he can continue to work for us”.

Aisha Abduhali who spoke on behalf of the Arewa Women said once we tune in our television set, we see all the good things our father Governor Godwin Obaseki is doing. So I told our Arewa women that I am tired of being a member of APC. Lets decamp to PDP to join Governor Godwin Obaseki and ensure his reelection and they all agreed, that is why we are here.

Leaders of the Women Wing Campaign Council of the PDP lauded their actions and assured them of a hitch free poll.

PDP Deputy National Woman Leader, Hajia Hadizat Umoru said anytime you get up always remember that Governor Obaseki’s reelection is sure and its a done deal.

Edo South Senatorial Woman Leader of PDP Mrs Uwa Osunbor said people are saying they will fight and kill so as to scare you from voting, please do not mind them. This election will be the most peaceful election Edo state has ever recorded

Member of the House of Representative, Honourable Omosede Igbinedion said this is a decision of a lifetime and by the special grace of God, we are going to win and everyone will contribute their own quota in the governor winning his second term in office.

On her part Barrister Mrs Ihenhen said “when we were in APC, we were praying everyday for APC not to give Obaseki the ticket because we knew the good things that follows him. The day he crossed over to PDP was the day we knew victory belongs to Edo state, because the things he has done is visible to all. What is good is good”.

The Wife of the Governor of Edo State, Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki used the opportunity to educate the women on how to prevent void votes and urged them to report anyone who wants to buy their PVC.

She urged the women to look for the umbrella symbol on the ballot paper as the name of the Governor will not be on it and vote with their index finger. She advised them not to fold the ballot paper as that may lead to void vote.

Mrs Betsy Obaseki also urged the women to resist the temptation of giving their PVC to anyone and to report anyone who requests for it.

After the election, the women won't have access to her again.

I really wish that this Edo State's election will be free and fair but this is Nigeria.
