Osho baba will always have my respect all day every day. Sad that whenever a great leader goes through some rough patch, even those beneath him would have the guts to say all sorts. Buhari could have lost three times prior to 2015, does that make him irrelevant?. He brought Obaseki out of obscurity & for which he would forever be indebted to Oshiomole. Obaseki will never come close to Osho's political landmarks. When Obaseki ends his tenure, he would go back to being a school boy just like Peter Obi.

kiss the truth!

That is exactly what we hope for and in normal societies what we expect. That when the tenure of an elected official is over he goes away. But this is lost on the warped thinking of most Nigerians including you unfortunately. Yes, Obaseki will/should go away into obscurity having played his part. That is entirely normal. Politicians in other climes do not hang around after their tenures to poison the waters of progress or play god to the citizens.

If Oshiomhole had done likewise his legacy will have been secured as perhaps the best governor in recent times but greed, selfish ambition and a total misunderstanding of what democracy is all about has ruined all that. Now, he will only be remembered in the Hall of Democratic Infamy as a lesson for the upright and the real progressives, that this is a democracy, not an autocracy and certainly not a monarchy.

It is an insult to the average citizen that he cannot of himself choose who leads him and has to be presented with a 'suitable' candidate. What are the credentials and competencies of these so called godfathers to make them sole determinants of leadership. Time and time again, state after state they all come out to tell us the familiar, 'that they made mistakes is supporting certain poodles into power...' Isn't that self indicting.

Well, tell them this. I as a citizen of the country will not make such a mistake because I can smell those who will perform in leadership from a thousand miles and so can Edolites, a state teeming with extremely bright and intellectually sound individuals who do not need an ex-trade unionist to lead them by the nose ring like cattle.

Abeg make una go siddon. You better start learning what democracy is all about. We have seen enough mess already.

The apathy in Nigeria's elections is getting two much. Come to think of it how can barely 530,000 people decide the future of a State with over 5 million. 10% of the State determines the future of 100% of the State's residents. A western observer would assume they're disenfranchised but we all know it's because majority Nigerians no longer trust the government/politicians be ye APC or PDP. This is bad. Average turnout for an election should be 67%(2/3). Anything short of that shows apathy, higher figures show a good democratic governance-interested citizenry and that is how we want Nigeria's election to be like.

NIGERIA MUST BE GREAT AGAIN. GOD HELP US

Once again, congrats to Gov. Godwin Obaseki

Unfortunately, people have become disillusioned.

In one word, Oshoomole do not have any significant in the outcome of this election. Meaning who ever Oshoomole support doesn't matter. Inside life

Unfortunately, people have become disillusioned.

Exactly what I said as my only reaction to the election yesterday. The people have been traumatised into believing their votes will not count by this poison, this plague, this calamity called 'godfatherism' that has severely weakened democracy and put the people on the back foot in the battle between the rulers and the ruled

A weak mandate is an antidote for abuse of power. Weak democratic investments cannot yield strong dividends.

Hmmmm. What a funny life. Oshimole of the then Labour congress that everyone so much cherished and respected has now become irrelevant.

Lesson, don't be power drunk and don't over do things and don't forget a good name is better than riches.

2016 election was far from free and fair compared to this 2020 election...

PDP would have won 2016 had it been, it was free and fair!...
I was in Benin then and I witnessed it all...
You are very correct. I witnessed it too!

This statistics no hold water. Saying over a million voters did not come out to vote. Hmmm do they know how many are still alive? Or how many still are in Edo State?

In 4 years when benin city becomes the dirtiest city again with flood and erosion, you all will be asking for someone like Oshiomole.

" bini elite have abandoned Benin city until Oshiomole came along...." Oba Erediauwa
