Happy Independence,
Sounds more like a condolence,
A nation with incessant violence,
Wallowed with political decadence,

Someone help!!! state of emergency,
It's a matter of urgency,
Federal? Hell no! It's a northern agency,
Lets stop this hypocrisy,

Several years of devalued currency,
We have deliberately lost our potency,
Which brought us to abject poverty,
And lack of intellectual property,

Indeed there was a country,
Yea, a family capital territory,
Education here isn't mandatory,
Average livelihood here aren't satisfactory,

Arise oh compatriots,
Freedom of speech left us as parrots,
We have had enough Judas Iscariot,
So lets end this tussle, chaos and riot,

Oh God of Creation,
Please liberate our nation,
Lead us not into temptation,
Bring back our compassion,

Igbo, hausa and yoruba,
Eze, emir and oba,
Unity should be our watch word,
Togetherness we pray oh Lord.
