I was in Taraba state, North East Nigeria on 1st October 2020 to participate in the Independence Day 2020 Hiking event tagged HASH RUN 505 organized by the Jalingo Hash House Harriers also known as JH3. This is the Jalingo chapter of the Hash House of Harriers. This hash run has been an annual event of the chapter since 2016.

The 2020 edition is the fifth edition and was attended by participants within and outside Nigeria. It was a large collection of vibrant young people from different walks of life in Yorro , Taraba state. Yorro Local Government is blessed with a vast collection of beautiful mountains. The run commenced with the convergence of participants at a planned meeting point from where the journey to the foot of the Yorro mountains commenced.

Crossing the Yorro river presented a major challenge to all the participants who either trekked or used motor bikes to arrive at the foot of of the Yorro mountains after crossing the river. From the foot of the Yorro mountain selected for the run is a breath taking view of beautiful massifs blended into one of the most beautiful natural landscape that i have ever seen. A view which echoes the state government's slogan of Taraba being "nature's gift to the nation".

The hiking up into and down the mountain as well as the navigation through the Yorro waters to get out of the mountains was along a trail that was earlier marked out by the organizers. The rest of the event is captured in the pictures below and the linked video.
