The Federal Government has said organised labour neither compromised nor betrayed workers in the negotiations that led to the suspension of its planned strike.

DAILY POST had reported NLC and TUC had agreed to suspend the strike over the increase in petrol and electricity tariff on Monday morning after meeting with the federal government.

Following the development, Nigerians had condemned the action by labour, accusing its leaders of compromise and betrayal.

Speaking in an Interview with TVC on Friday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that labour was patriotic by suspending the strike.

He said after days of negotiations, labour agreed with the government that deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector is a necessity and not an option.

“The moment we lost as much as 60 per cent of our earnings and suffered a kind of shock in crude oil prices, we must deregulate.

“Between 2006 and 2019, we paid N10.413 trillion in fuel subsidies, an average of N743.8 billion per annum.

“The simple truth is that the government can no longer afford to subsidise PMS and the subsidy has never benefited the common man.

“What the two parties agreed upon are things that must be done to mitigate the effects of the deregulation on the workers, ’’ the minister said.

The minister also revealed that the government agreed with labour that it would facilitate the setting up of many modular refineries and rehabilitate existing regular refineries to cushion the effects of the deregulation.

According to him, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources would intensify efforts to ensure that Nigerians could get alternatives such as gas to power their vehicles and machinery.

When the man a wife is cheating with tells the husband that his wife is very 'decent and responsible'.

So FG is the one now explaining labour's position to us? Well, I never believed in the labour. I told my colleagues emphatically that there was not going to be any strike. Nigeria!

Following the development, Nigerians wailers had condemned the action by labour, accusing its leaders of compromise and betrayal.

When will wailers realize that this is not the PDP administration? The President Buhari we all know will NEVER give a kobo as bribe to anyone. I think wailers should get used to this fact and stop crying wolf. No amount of wailing can nullify the mandate we the good people of Nigeria have given President Mohammadu Buhari.

Also, there's something evil I have noticed about these wailers.. Anytime there's a rumor about something less pleasant like President Buhari taking a second wife or Buhari being a clone, you see them jubilating, popping champagne and calling for the balkanization of this great nation. But when there's great news, which happens 99% of the time, they'll begin to wail, attacking President Buhari and any well-meaning Nigerian in sight.

This is really bad. Considering the fact that they hate Buhari, not because he isn't working, but because he is simply against corruption, indiscipline and other social vices.

I pray that one day God Almighty will touch their hearts so that they can appreciate President Mohammadu Buhari for the great things he's doing.

God bless Nigeria.

They did not only betrayed, but damaged the little trust and hope Nigerians have in them. When next they call for strike, nobody will consider them serious.

Now we know PDP, APC and NLC are the 3 major political party in Nigeria.

Happy weekend to Nairalanders and Nigerians.
God bless you all
