The NPF needs a wholistic reconfiguration with the ban of SARS. SARS was formed to battle armed robbers and kidnappers in 1992 in lagos. in early 2000 , sars units were created nationwide due to increasing violent crimes. 10 years later, Internet fraud became popular and armed robberies becoming old fashioned . sars guys were becoming idle, no more action , no money. efcc guys are living like Saudi princes.sars were envying efcc guys and decided to have their share of proceeds of frauds.
the truth is that era of rampant armed robberies has gone. this is new era of Internet fraud. they do not have training to handle cybercrimes. many innocent ones have been harassed and killed by sars. follow PoliceCRU and segalink in twitter and read bad experiences people had with sars. sars are friends of yahoos and criminals. they visit real yahoos monthly to collect 'salaries'. it is when they fail to meet their 'targets', they resort to extorting any youth. sars personnels should be deployed to fight bandits as SWAT team while government devotes more resources to efcc and icpc to have presence in every lg.

This is the kind of stuffs we should be engaging in now. Ways to improve the whole security architecture.

While I agree with your take on efcc being closer to the lg, I think SARS still need to be close to the society too. Coz it'll take no time for robbers to start terrorizing again. One million boys is a testament to the fact that hoodlums would take the slightest chance to strike.

If SARS personnels and Senior police officers are made more accountable, this menace would stop. Jail term, capital punishment and dismissal for senior officers who fail to monitor their squads would be a good way to start.

As expected, I'm from edo state and the rate at which cyber crime is been done in my state is alarmingly high. All the boys and girls have all gone into Yahoo businesses especially Upper and Ugbowo people in Benin, no one wants to learn a skill nor go to school gain. they've all resolved to joining the cyber crime business.

Should SARS go, the government is indirectly legalizing cyber crime and armed robbery in Nigeria. The intelligent ones know this

Yes SARS should be reformed and not abolished totally.
Anyone who supports the removal of this body is either a cyber criminal or indirectly benefitting from it.

I've been harrasedby SARS before but nothing happened afterwards. What should be done instead is to bring those who perpetrated incessant killings of the innocent ones to book. You dont throw the bath water and the baby together.

So before you support this endsars cause, think very well on the aftermath. We should call for reformation of SARS not ending it

Here’s the thing bro:

I’m not benefiting from cybercrime or supporting fraud but the SARS programme needs to be ended.

“If it’s working, you don’t have to fix it.”

It’s not working, let’s end it and start something fresh.

Put those guys in the street, let them hustle like everyone else and understand what it takes to earn living legitimately.

They’re too lowly to be reformed. Let’s introduce some freshness into the system.

People like Frank Mba are product of systems where things are working. He’s not a typical naija police. You can see the difference. Just find out more about him and his reign as Area Commander, Festac/Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
Even all the people working with him are decent!

He sure knew what to do if only he’s allowed. Look at his engagement with Naira Marley. Who would attack such an officer?

Actually It's not the job of SARS to be arresting Yahoo boys, the agency that has that jurisdiction is EFCC.

The major problem is not even SARS taking the jurisdiction of EFCC in this regard, the thing SARS activities is not even curbing the menace!! Rather they collect bribe from these yahoo boys and unfortunately assault those that are not even the yahoo yahoo..

I support the reformation of SARS through a strict law that narrows their activities to only anti-robbery and kidnapping only.

Is SARS in charge to arrest Yahoo boys? Before the police create SARS department, the work of police is to safe life and property of every citizen. If SARS is banned, we still have police that can protect us. All SARS are exconvit. How do you want them to behave in the society?

Most of the cyber criminals are from the Southern part of the country. South-South leads, followed by South-West and South-East. We Northerners don't involve in cybercrime, and some slowpokez want us to join them in their self-inflicted woes.
you'll call it self inflicted bcoz the Karki boys are northerners who want to annihilate all southerners in the name of cyber crime. SARS should re-deploy their might to fight Boko Haram in the north.

Don't get it twisted. The Special Anti Robbery Squad was set up to deal with armed robbers. What is their business with Yahoo boys? The EFCC is there and the ICPC is there. We even have Special Anti Fraud Unit in the Nigerian Police Force. These criminals, deviants and miscreants don't even know why the squad was established. They have become worse than the armed robbers.
