ACN, PDP Clash: 1 Killed In Jigawa .Monday, 07 March 2011 00:03 Muh’d Zangina Kura, Dutse .Mayhem yesterday engulfed Babura town in Jigawa State following a two-day clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) during which one person died and several others were injured. LEADERSHIP observed several offices of the two rival parties completely razed. Also security was beef up to contain the situation.

A witness who did not wish to be named revealed that the crisis started Saturday evening when the ACN gubernatorial candidate in the state, a native, visited the town for a political rally.

According to him, during the rally, some members of the PDP attacked the gubernatorial candidate and his convoy with stones.

The eye witness added that, after the stoning the follower of CAN turn back to retaliate and from there the ciaos erupted in the town.

He added that during the crisis ACN members attacked the house of the Babura Local government chairman who said to have escaped but his boy was starved to death by the attackers.

When contacted, the district head of Babura, Alhaji Hadi Mustapha, said normalcy had returned to the town following the joint effort by security men and traditional authorities .

Council Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad Babura, said he could not speak on the incident and that the security agencies were best placed to clarify the matter.

Spokesman of the the state police command, ASP Abdul Jinjiri, confirmed the incident and the killing of the 45-year-old aide of the local council boss.

He, however, said he was yet to get the full details of the details of the crisis from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area.
